650.0. "Uniterm20e Problem" by CSC32::COMULADA () Mon Oct 30 1989 09:23

    Last night I tried several times down line loading Uniterm V2e from
    Peovax:: and Oldtmr:: and in both cases I kept getting errors after
    I unarc'd it. I tried 2400, 1200 baud rates with no differences. I
    tried using the new unarc.prg which I also downline loaded and unarc'd
    which seemed to do ok. Has anyone else had problems with this uniterm
    version2e?
              Does anyone know wherea good version of this resides. The
    errors I was getting was 2 or bombs,tos#35 and hangs on pressing the
    help function.

650.1Are you sure it's a problem with the archive?OLDTMR::WALLACEMon Oct 30 1989 10:294
What did you use to do the download? Have you successfully downloaded .ARC
files before?

Have you read PRNSYS::DUA1:[LOMICKAJ.HOBBY.ST]XFERINTRO.TXT?

    Reply to the last two.

    I sit beside Felix. He is an old hand at d/l loading. That's been our
    job for the last 10 years.

    If you'll notice in his opening reply he says he d/l loaded several
    other files successfully.
650.4If it's broke I'll get a new copyOLDTMR::WALLACEMon Oct 30 1989 13:037
I'll check it out and put another copy in my directory (OLDTMR::) if it is
indeed bad.

Appologies for reading .0 to fast and missing the mention of a successfull
download.

650.5Check it out.....CSC32::COMULADAMon Oct 30 1989 15:165
    Thanks forthe quick response guys. As Mike on .3 indicated, I did
    manage to d/; other files with no problems, except for Uniterm. I used
    xmodem, but thats what I've used before with o problems.
             I appreciate your checking it out and putting another copy on
    if needed....thanks again..let me know when and if you re-copy it...
650.6I suspect there is nothing wrong with the fileOLDTMR::WALLACEMon Oct 30 1989 15:205
In that case I would suggest you do read the file Jeff mentioned in .2.
You can not download the .ARC files on OLDTMR:: using XMODEM without first
running them through CVTARC.

650.7Isn't this an ancient echo from about a year ago?CSC32::MORGANCybernetic Society Arrives Today!Mon Oct 30 1989 16:596
    We now think that some conversion program needs running on the setup
    file. I remember that happening before on an earlier version.

    Just for my information why do we need to run cvtarc on these programs?
    We aren't using Kermit, but xmodem after breaking the program into 128
    byte blocks with our own proven program.
650.8xmodem needs stream-lf filesOLDTMR::WALLACETue Oct 31 1989 11:445
My understanding is that xmodem expects stream-lf and can cause the downloaded
file to be corrupt if the file on the VAX was not stream-lf. The ARC file on
OLDTMR:: is in fixed 512 byte file format.

650.9No more problemsCSC32::COMULADATue Oct 31 1989 12:255
    Thanks again...Well I tried it again last night using cvtarc,then
    xmodem several times, no go..finally gave up and tried using Kermit.
    I reloaded Uniterm from OLDTMR::,cvt it, and it worked fine using
    Kermit. Guess I'll stay with kermit for a while or try Ymodem next.
    Thanks again for the support...
