601.0. "TOS ERROR #35" by CESARE::PIOVANO (May be a price to Pay. ( Italy )) Mon Sep 18 1989 06:39

    	In ACT, we have some PC ( Decstation 200-350 etc.. ) connected to the
    LAN via Ethernet card.

    I've tried to store some PD Atari software on their 3,5" disk drive,
    performing the following tasks :

    1) Format the disk on PC whit DOS at 720Kbytes capacity.

    2) Using VMSSWEEP ver 3.5, deARC an archive for ST, then...

    3) Copy via Network these files on Disk mounted on PC.
       I've used the NFT (Network File Transfer ) program supplied
       whit the PC, doing this command :

        NFT> COPY/IMAGE CESARE::[PIOVANO.ATARI]BUBBLE.PRG A:BUBBLE.PRG

    4) Go to my Home and try to RUN this program, succesfully copied on
       3.5" diskette, on my ATARI ST 1040.

    5) After put the diskette in atari's drive and viewing the directory
       contents, I've doble-clicking on BUBBLE.PRG.

          *** Wrong ***

    	TOS give me an error #35 !!!

    6) Redo ! TOS give me three little bomb !!

    Any idea on this problem ??

    Thanks for any help in advance..

    Gian

Two things:

1. Use VMS ARC, not VMSSWEEP. VMSSWEEP writes funny file attributes.
Can you get text files across okay this way?

2. The DEC drives are HD drives, which means they may have trouple
erasing data previously written by a "regular" drive. Always degauss
previously used disks before formatting and writing them on the HD drive.

Have you read XFERINTRO.TXT for an introduction to RMS file attributes
as they affect ARC and KERMIT? Some of this applies to your situation.

Let us know how you make out. We have some PC's in my group, and I will
eventually want to do similar things.

601.3NFT COPY w/o switches...PEARS::BOEHMIrren ist mnnlichMon Oct 02 1989 09:4610
    re: .0

    Hi Gian,

    I always use this NFT command: NFT COPY node::path:file msdos-file.
    COPY command without any switch.

    Regards. / Hilmar.
