595.0. "UniTerm V2.0e and VAX/VMS CKERMIT?" by LDP::WEAVER (Laboratory Data Products/Science) Sat Sep 16 1989 13:13

    Has anyone gotten UniTerm V2.0e to work with CKERMIT? I can use
    V1.8 with CKERMIT, but not the latest. I keep getting NAK's, I
    think the block check character is screwed up because whatever
    mode I set on the Atari, the VAX changes its mode to something
    different.

    						Thanks,
    						-Dave

595.2Packet length was difference between 1.8 & 2.0LDP::WEAVERLaboratory Data Products/ScienceSun Sep 17 1989 16:258
    To answer my first question/problem:

    It turns out I was using packet lengths of 1000 with 1.8, and 1024
    with 2.0e. Dropping 2.0e down to 1000 seems to make it work. I
    am transferring on a LAT line, so LAT buffering may be having some
    effect.

595.4huh, decent VAX kermit? Pointer please!DELNI::GOLDSTEINWe await silent Tristero's entryMon Sep 25 1989 18:146
    Really Stupid Question.

    Where's/what's VAX Ckermit? I'd love to have a kermit with large
    packet support. I'm using VMS kermit and I don't think it has that
    feature.

595.5LDP:: becomes DUGGAN::DUGGAN::WEAVERLaboratory Data Products/ScienceMon Sep 25 1989 23:3412
    You can get a copy from DUGGAN::SYS$UNSUPPORTED:CKERMIT.EXE. Just
    remember to SET FILE TYPE xxx (TEXT or BINARY) on the VMS end when
    uploading, if you upload TEXT in the BINARY mode it doesn't turn
    out too well.

    Note, LDP::WEAVER -> DUGGAN::WEAVER as our cluster changed its name
    due to supporting more groups than just LDP. Tom Duggan was the
    oldest employee in Digital, until we hired Grace Hopper, the new
    name is to recognize Tom's longstanding employment with Digital
    and LDP (he has been with LDP ever since the start).

    I tried to copy CKERMIT, resulting in "file or directory lookup
    failed".

    Please would you check the file name you gave .5 please?
