I have been using the BMS-200 since April on my Atari 1040. I have
the Adaptec 4000 controller and two scsi drives attached. So far
the only problem that I have encountered is that my clock battery
has gone bad. The support over the phone was very good. I wanted
to position my drives as far from the ST as possible (I hate noise)
so they told me what I needed to run a twenty foot cable between
the BMS-200 and the Adaptec controller. Just a 50 pin ribbon cable
and a coleco 5volt power supply which I got at Radio shack for $5.00.
Then I built a small box/holder for the BMS-200 and powered it from
the coleco supply while the adaptec module was powered by my drive
power(an old pro enclosure works just fine with the adaptec module
at an angle).
The hardware was built very well and went together easily but the
software was not as good as some. However any hard disk drivers
will work such as ICD ar supra. I am using ICD's along with the
superboot program. I have had no "noise" problems over the extended
bus nor suffered any loss of data. Now I am just waiting for TOS
1.4 so I don't have to run FolderXXX everytime I boot.
The BMS can accomodate up to seven scsi devices as well as any
DMA devices may be attached to its DMA output port such as laser
printer...etc. I hope this helps.
