477.0. "OPUS V2.1 Where is it????" by ECGLD1::SHARPE () Sun May 14 1989 13:32

    The following was extracted from this notes file. Does anyone have
    Version 2.1 of OPUS? I have a copy of OPUS Version 1.2 and it is quite
    nice. I would be happy to pay the shareware fee to get the Version 2.1
    described below, but have no idea of where to obtain it. Can anyone
    help me out?

    Thanks,

    Mike

 OPUS 2.10
 ~~~~~~~~~
 Any "serious" computer's software library should include a trio of all-
 important programs: a word processor, a database, and a spreadsheet.
 (For some reason, a good terminal program isn't often mentioned, even
 though some of us think it's as important as the others.  But that's
 another story.)
 In the spreadsheet area, there are two fine examples of ST shareware:
 SHEET and OPUS.  The newest upgrade to OPUS is 2.10, and it is highly
 impressive.  OPUS requires at least a 1 megabyte machine to run.  Also
 needed are GDOS or G+Plus and printer drivers and fonts.  OPUS has many
 sophisticated features.  Space doesn't permit a full listing of
 functions, but here are just a few:
 ~255 columns by 999 rows
 ~over 80 mathematical functions
 ~very fast natural order recalculation
 ~graphing capability from within OPUS or with the program OUTCHART
  (included)
 ~Chart types: area, bar, stacked bar, line, scatter, pie
 ~Charts can be saved as GEM metafiles for use in other programs
 OPUS runs in medium or high resolution.  An ST with 1 megabyte of memory
 will yield about 400K free with the control panel, G+Plus, Swiss and
 Dutch fonts in 10, 12, 14, and 24 points installed.  That's about enough
 memory for 10,000 numbers or several thousand formulas.
 Included with OPUS 2.10 are several sample work sheets:
 ~A loan amortization calculator
 ~A 5-function financial calculator
 ~An enzyme kinetics work sheet
 ~Regression examples
 ~A demo of 4 different chart types
 ~Standard error bar example
 ~An example of date functions and the MATCH funtion
 OPUS was originally featured in the September 1988 issue of ST-Log.
 OPUS 2.00 and 2.10 come straight from the programmer, Doug Harrison, as
 shareware.
