I just got off the phone with Michtron and Antic. Michtron said they no
longer handle GFA Basic 3.0 (which I knew already). But they also no longer
sell the book "Programming with GFA Basic 3.0" which got a favorable
review in the March 89 issue of START. Michtron referred me to Antic, who
they said was now supporting GFA Basic 3.0. Antic's phone number is

A call there confirmed the above, but Antic doesn't handle the book either,
yet! So, the book is out of reach.

He also said that version 3.05 was now out. This version fixes a few bugs
AND adds a few commands. You can get 3.05 by sending $10 along with your
original disk to:

With the update, you will get a coupon which you can use to get a discount
on the new GFA Basic 3 manual which is now going into print. You will also
get a description of the new commands.

I also asked about the compiler for version 3. He said it wasn't available
yet but was coming. That fits in with a comment I heard earlier on USENET
that GFA was hoping to release the compiler at a major European computer
show in March (CeBIT?). I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
