365.0. "ST TEX, How good is it ??" by RDGENG::KEANE () Thu Jan 05 1989 11:41
Hello,
Does anyone know anyone who has access to Compuserve??. Is the
TEX stuff referred to in the note (see below), P.D.? Is it possible
to get these files onto a VAX?? . How much does Compuserve charge
to download??. Is DVIEPS Tex to Postscript?, what does DVIST do?,
Is it a Tex viewer on the ST? . Doea anyone know if these files
are worth pulling over ??
If its worthwhile, and not too expensive then I will share the cost
of getting it down from COMPUSERVE, unless anyone knows a freebie
route!!
Cheers Pat K.

365.1 | In a couple weeks, I'm SUPPOSED to get a copy | PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ | Jeff Lomicka | Thu Jan 05 1989 16:36 | 3 |
| I will be getting this on a floppy on Jan 21 from someone who has it,
and will make it available, if it's legal.
|
365.2 | also on lakesys | RADINA::PASCIUTA | Adrian (RDGENG::) Pasciuta | Sun Jan 08 1989 08:15 | 5 |
| ST TeX is also available on the lakesys fileserver. I've had some success
in getting files from lakesys in the past, but the system has been off the
air for about a month now (the system manager is apparently reorganising
the file system).

365.3 | | IJSAPL::KLERK | Theo de Klerk | Sun Jan 08 1989 08:34 | 9 |
| The version is available from
IJSAPL::PSQ:[PUBLIC.SOURCES.ATARI.TEX]*.ARC
Kibo mailed those sources to me and also converted the DVIEPS.ARC file
to a format understandable by the older versions of ARC.

365.5 | Metafont for ST | IJSAPL::KLERK | Theo de Klerk | Mon Jan 30 1989 13:03 | 17 |
| I'm in the process of uploading ST-METAFONT too. A ShareWare version
made by Mathias Mortiz from the University of Nijmegen. I understand
several other DECies have also ported their own TEX/METAFONT systems.
Anyway, this Metafont system comes as a set of \MF...\ folders. By
lack of a TAR or BACKUP utility that everone else seems to have,
I ARCed things into an ARC per folder.
The main ARC is MF_MF.ARC that contains the (INI)MF.TTP and a MFSHELL.PRG
to work under. It also contains a READ.ME that explains where everything
of all other ARCs is supposed to go. A 1 Mb and harddisk seems
advisable.
You will find, by the end of this week, everything in
IJSAPL::TEXDISK:[TEX.SOURCES.MF.ATARI]*.ARC

Metafont for the Atari ST
This disk (or this arc file) contains a version of Metafont
for the Atari ST.
Metafont is a the font generation program developed by D.E. Knuth.
For a more complete documentation of Metafont
buy and read D.E. Knuth's book about Metafont.
This implementation was done by Matthias Moritz ([email protected])
using CCD Pascal Version 2.
All programs are copyrighted (c) 1988 by Matthias Moritz.
You may distribute the programs only on a non-commercial basis
provided this file (read.me) is included.
This implementation will only work with at least 1 Megabyte of memory.
You can use the package either with a command line interpreter
or with the program 'mfshell.prg' supplied.
There are a number of environment variables which should be
defined. Read 'mf.msh' to obtain more information about these
variables.
