296.0. "Request for color software titles" by PHDVAX::MURRAY (Kinder *AND* Gentler) Fri Nov 11 1988 11:11
Hello Fellow Atarians!
After figuring out that VIDEO-KEY from Practical Solutions would
solve the problem of providing RF output (i.e. *COLOR*) from my 1040,
I ordered one from Computability for $84. As is mentioned several
notes back, Best Electronics offers an RF adaptor that can be
installed in an ST for $50, but the owner of Best advised me against
buying it as it came with no instructions. He said they would install
one on my motherboard for a total of $100 plus shipping but said I'd
be better off with VIDEO-KEY. Appears he was right!
The problem is that since I bought the 1040 with mono monitor, I
quickly forgot about any program that ran ONLY on color.
Consequently, I don't have any idea of what things I've been missing.
Can you folks help fill me in on what the good color stuff might
be?
Specifically:
1) What are the Public Domain offerings on the ENET that only
work on color?
2) What are the color "must-haves", PD or $$? I'm mainly
interested in kiddy stuff, but anything striking in its
use of color is appreciated.
Thanks for any help.
Rich Murray
