276.0. "Major bug in ARC V5.21" by MILRAT::WALLACE () Wed Oct 19 1988 01:56

    There is a bug in ARC V5.21 when extracting files.

    If you specify a file of *.* to be extracted (note this happens
    automaticly when you use arcshell and leave the filename blank)
    only files with an extension will be extraced. For example README
    will not be extracted but README.1ST will.

    I just did an exctract *.* on four floppies (DS) worth of files
    and then deleted the .ARC files, only then did I notice the problem.
    It's hard to tell how many and what files I lost.

276.1Try * for all files...PEARS::BOEHMIrren ist mnnlichWed Oct 19 1988 10:0811

	Hi Ray,

    	I noticed that recently too. But I don't think, that this is
    a bug. If you say * instead of *.*, you'll get what you'd expected.
    Saying * for all files is the UNIX notation/syntax, I think.

276.2Where are those new ARCs?IJSAPL::KLERKTheo de KlerkSun Jan 08 1989 08:2812
  Could someone tell me if and where this more recent ARC version can be
  obtained (or did I miss it in the Usenet mailings?)? I found out that
  the PD ST-TeX system uploaded by James "kibo" Parrer (see TeXHaX 89-1)
  contained one arc file (DVIEPS) that refused processing the the ARC
  utililty - both the Atari version that I've got and the VAX/VMS version
  (after using CVTARC U to get the ARC in VMS reable format).

  If others are interested: see PSQ:[PUBLIC.SOURCES.ATARI.TEX] for all
  ARCs that can be copied straight to the Atari. Some documentation included
  inside the ARCs.
