| 243.1 | interpretation of Price ratings??? | 21850::LEE | Dek Lee 297-4676 MR04-2/H18 | Thu Sep 22 1988 12:58 | 5 |
How does one read the ratings for "Price" ?
Would a "D" rating for Price mean "below average" in cost (a
good buy) or "below average" value for the money one spent,
(i.e. you just paid too much)?

I'd give Fuji disks a D. Out of two packs of 10 I got two bad disks.
I don't trust their media anymore. Their waranty is worthless.

| 243.3 | "A" is an "EXCELENT" price!? | MILRAT::WALLACE | Thu Sep 22 1988 16:04 | 6 | |
I didn't read the original article (nor did I write it) but I would
guess that:
Price "A" = an "EXCELENT" price
Price "F" = a "POOR" price

| 243.4 | DS/DD or SS/DD? | 21850::WEAVER | Laboratory Data Products | Thu Sep 22 1988 18:19 | 16 |
Where those SS/DD, DS/DD or SS/HD (is there DS/HD?)?
I have never had a problem with a Fuji disk, or Sony for that matter,
but in visual inspections I would rate the Fuji's above the Sony's
as I never saw concentric scratches on the Fuji's, but I did on
the Sony's.
When you say you had 2 bad Fujis, were thos DS/DD or SS/DD or SS/DD
used as DS/DD?
These ratings are all meaningless without more information. Also,
I would expect MISWEEK to have a high IBM bias, and a higher bias
towards anyone who advertizes there (I feel this way about all
magazine reviews, however).

| 243.5 | Verbatim ranked same as Sony? This survey's a phoney | PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ | Jeff Lomicka | Fri Sep 23 1988 13:49 | 6 |
I can't believe that they gave "Verbatim" (what a misnomer) the same rating as Sony. I never met a "Verbatim" disk that lived up to it's name. Every one of them (both of them, to be precise) screetched like a cat with it's tail in the door, and frequently caused "disk may be bad" forms to appear on my screen - even after bulk erasing and reformatting. | |||||
| 243.6 | Sony Only | LEDS::POLLAN | Sat Jul 22 1989 22:31 | 6 | |
Just had a Fuji kill my 2 sided floppy.
It scereeches when i try to copy.
Never had a failure with my Sony.
I'll swear by Sony till the end.
Even the Fuji package is flimsy and cheap.
