I am looking for a MEGA ST 2 with a color monitor, 20 mb disk and printer combination for use in Europe. Can anyone out there tell me where I can find the best prices around Boston or Nashua, NH and what the prices are. Are the Megas 220V selectable or do I need a Xformer? David

P.S. I am planning to use it for home processing, wp and spreadsheets and to connect to a synth/guitar/amp for music. Anyone have any reviews of good music programs in PD or best prices for commersial stuff? David | |||||

Hi, You'll have to buy a 220/240 (depending upon which country in Europe) to 110 volt transformer to power the system. If it's a monochrome system you should be O.K. If you want to use colour (color) then you will need to use a program on your boot disk to gently nudge the system into generating the correct timing from the colour shifte. This was if memory serves me correctly referred to as changing from NTSC (which the ST does't support) into PAL (which the ST also doesn't support, but them few personal computers that really generate true composite sync for video are few and far between!). When I bought my very early (9/85) ST in France Atari had totally forgotten to make TOS switch the hardware into 50Hz mode.....so I wrote as small assembler program...long since deleted, but the inverse should work.
