87.0. "HiSoft DevPack Assembler V2" by DOOZER::MAUDE (John S. Maude EDU Services Reading UK) Wed May 11 1988 14:32
Hi All,
Last weekend I recieved a copy of HiSoft DevPack Assembler V2.
This has got to be the best 68000 Assembler on the market at the
moment.
It contains a reasonable Screen Editor,an Assembler,a Screen
Monitor, and a Linker. The assembler has options to assemble your
source to memory (for quick testing), to file in both DRI object
format and GST, there is also and option to assemble nowhere for
quick syntax checking. The assembler also contains full macro support,
all 68000 directives, and directives to control the flow of the
assembly, also you can turn optimization on (ie. jumps turned to
branches if required etc).
The Monitor can access your symbols if symbol table present
in image. It has 3 to 5 windows (ie. Register, disassembly, and
memory windows by default). 5 types of breakpoints can be set including
simple, count, conditional.
The Linker however, can only link objects in GST object format
an English standard used by Lattice C for instance, but I have used
the DRI output format to link the object code to Dev Kit C modules
and MWC modules.
For 50 its got to be worth it !!!!

re .0 (John)
Was this an initial purchase, or was this an upgrade aquirement
I have a version 1.?? of the assembler, and I sent my card in, but
never received info on an upgrade. As I recall, they are from UK,
cause my card got bounced back from the mail with insufficient postage
I think it is also a pretty neat assembler, the only thing I wish
was if it was able to be run from the command line, and not get
sent into their gem shell/environment.

| Hi,
Re .1 :-
This was an origional purchase. I believe there is an upgrade
path, but I can't recall the price. BTW the new version has a command
shell assembler as well.
