46.0. "MacPaint clone for high res anywhere?" by PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ (Jeff Lomicka) Wed Apr 20 1988 11:03

Suddenly I find that I need a painting editor for high-res mode. A
MacPaint clone would be ideal. My only requirements are that it allow
you to draw pictures in a monochrome bitmap, and that it will allow my
private print-screen desk accessory to run.

I have DeGas and Neo-chrome, but to use one of them, I would have to
figure out how to make my print screen utility to work in color.

Does anybody have a hack out there that can do this? Note that saving
the picture, while nice, isn't actually neccessary.

46.1Does Degas do mono?MAST::WALLACEWed Apr 20 1988 22:533
    I thought Degas worked in mono (ie: .PI3 pictures) as well as color?

    Degas or Degas Elite should work just fine.

46.4Certainly Degas Elite, if not DegasLDP::WEAVERLaboratory Data ProductsThu Apr 21 1988 19:218

    Well, I know that Degas Elite will work in monochrome mode. Can't
    vouch for sure about Degas. I use it all the time in monochrome
    to reverse the RLE stock data I get from CompuServe so I don't waste
    my ribbon printing tons of white-on-black graphics.

46.5No problem with Degas, eitherMSDSWS::PALMEREd Palmer @JMO, DTN 356-6612Fri Apr 22 1988 11:180
46.6Good advicePRNSYS::LOMICKAJJeff LomickaMon Apr 25 1988 11:159
Well, I hunted around and finally found my copy of Degas, and it works
great in monochrome. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't use my
print screen desk accessory with it, but solved that problem by writing
something that could read the .PI3 files and do whatever I please with
them (in this case, put it in a window so that I can use my favorite
print screen desk accessory).

Thanks for the advice.
