Hello, Please point me to the correct note if this has been discussed before: Infoserver 1000 CD tower. Customer is trying to copy ISO 9660 CDs by RECORD CD-drive CD-R-drive Works sometimes, most of the time gets 20 minutes into the copy and fails with SCSICHK error sense key 6. Per the documentation, the CD to CD copies requires a staging disk (partition). Once I establish if this is possible or not, the customer has tried to use a staging disk to copy the file per the documentation. Now he gets SCSIERROR, ESS-I-ERRVAL =8C. My understanding is Digital does not support ISO 9660 or HSFS copies and the customer must get a third party formatter to copy the data to the partition. If I am on the right track so far, does Digital have a recommended list of third party companies which we can recommend to the customer? Tim Fishel

You should be able to use a CD drive as the source provided: 1) The CD-drive is at least 2X 2) You record at 1X 3) You use the SIZE quaifier to specify the size of the files system on the CD in bytes. If you're copy a CD to disk, a straight InfoServer COPY command will work but the InfoServer uses the physical size of the CD, not the file system size. This will sometimes cause a read into "no mans land" The most common error from that is Parity error. For the record: Waylay-V7.1> exit %x8c %SYSTEM-F-DRVERR, fatal drive error --Doug | |||||

One more caveat: The source disc -cannot- be a multisession disc. If the source is a CD-R disc, made on anything other than the InfoServer, it is almost certainly multisession, as most mastering packages do multisession writes by default, even if you only write once to the disk. Chris |
