1228.0. "What is SAP?" by NETCAD::MORRISON (Bob M. LKG2-A/R5 226-7570) Fri May 09 1997 18:21

  The memo on the newly created Products Division says that A. O'Donnell will
manage Quality Assurance and "continue to manage SAP implementation". What
does SAP mean in this context?

SAP/R3 is the new corporate inventory/ordering database that will replace
MAXCIM/OLIM/SCOPE.

It's still in the development stage [regarding Digital, anyways ... I'm sure
that there are other companies using it already].

  Is there a notesfile on SAP?
  I'm glad to hear that we are finally phasing out MAXCIM. I learned it (that
is, TRIED to learn it) in 1990, when I was in SBO, and it had one of the most
convoluted user interfaces I have ever experienced.

And I'm still with SBO [but now we're MCG] and still using it. It
has its problems, of course, but I've been using it for about six
years and at least I'm familiar with it.

When SAP hits us, all of the reports that I currently run will be
useless since they run in MAXCIM ... and there are a slew of them.
