| > What is the status of DAS - Digital Authentication Server ?
Are you talking about the product originally called CMAN on which development
began about 3 years ago in Valbonne? If so, this project was transferred to
the Access Servers Group in 1995 and is now a commercial product called DRAS
(Digital Remote Authentication Server). If this is the product you are asking
about, try scanning and asking in IROCZ::TERMINAL_SERVERS.

Subject: DAS kit and status
Jean,
DIGITAL has outsourced the DAS product/support. Before I answer your
specific questions, here is a background summary: On Dec 31, 1996 the
few remaining people in the DECathena/DAS group resigned from Digital
to form a new company, LatticeSoft Inc. LatticeSoft and Digital
have a licensing agreement in place that allows LatticeSoft to use
the DECathena/DAS technologies to continue offering product licenses,
technical support and custom engineering services to Digital's
DECathena and DAS customers. Licenses and services are available
from LatticeSoft effective immediately.
There will be formal communications sent out very soon regarding
the Digital/LatticeSoft arrangement. These communications may include
an MCS field notification bulletin, a customer letter, and/or a press
release. Contact the MCS product manager, Diane Ellis, (DTN: 276-8143,
Diane Ellis@OGO) for further information on this.
In terms of your specific questions, I've responded below in the text
of your mail.
In the mean time, if you need any further help (information, support
services, etc) please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Thankyou,
Gary Perwak
President, LatticeSoft Inc.

>1/ Is this product still supported ?
not by DIGITAL directly. Support is available from LatticeSoft.
>
>2/ If so, what is the latest version ?
> Where can I get the kit from ?
the latest version is now a replacement product called LattiXcheck available
from LatticeSoft. It is 100% compatible with the last DIGITAL version.
>
>3/ Is Windows 95 and NT a supported Client platform ?
> When will it be ?
Not today. Our plans for W95/NT support are still evolving. At this time
we can offer custom engineering services or special projects to support these.
Please contact me if you would like to pursue this.
>
>4/ What is the future of DAS ? Should we go for it ? If not, what are the
> recommended alternatives ?
As indicated above, DAS has been replaced by LattiXcheck. LatticeSoft's current
plans are to continue offering technical support and custom engineering
services. The evolution of the product (additional features/additional platform
support) is in planning stages and will depend on the requirements we gather
from current and future customers. Should you have specific feature/function
needs, please relay these to me ASAP.
