| I'm no vet, but I would attribute his loss of balance from the
tumors in his ears. Your ears have a lot to do with balance,
and when something is wrong, you'll have a hard time walking
straight. I don't believe his sight is impaired - I would tend
to believe it's his loss of balance that's causing him not
to see straight.
Keep us posted - hope everything turns out ok and that kitty
is well again!

| Thanks Pam for your quick reply and concern for my lovable pet. I
surely do hope it is nothing serious. I'll give it a few more days, it is
so sad to see him this way...

| Please do let us know how he does. Perhaps he is listless because he's
frightened and needs extra cuddling; he probably doesn't understand
what's happening. did the vet say how long it would take for the
antibiotic to work/

| Did the vet say if surgery would be in order to remove the
tumors/polyps? My mother's cat suffered from these. It was awful for
her. Same symptoms you described. She was much, much older though,
about 19.
The cat is probably dizzy too. This might account for his not eating.
I had a head cold once and suffered some vertigo from it. I was sick
to my stomach the whole time. Once I got over it my appetite returned
(darn!).

| Thanks again for all of your warm concerns, Well Puffy is feeling
much better. It didn't look good for awhile....but we hung in there
together! Now he is eating (only if I hold the dish right under is
nose) he is walking and purring! I still have a concern with his
vision. I know he sees shadows he certainly does not have his complete
vision. I will be stopping by the Vets tonight to pick up some
steroids. The Veterinarian seems that it might stop some of the
swelling in the cats ears which could be causing his sight to be off.
I'll keep you guys posted.

| I worked very near Denise so we got a chance to talk today.
I told her Puffy maybe having trouble eating, cause when he puts
his head down the inner ear swelling maybe shifting and makes
him dizzy. She is going to put his dish up on something to hold
it secure and higher to make it easier for him to eat. The vet
suggested the treatment of the steroid drops and it seemed
reasonable.
I will encourage her to post another note Monday and see if the
new drops makes a difference.
She appreciated our concerns very much. (She never had written
in feline before.)

| I had a cat, (named Earthling of all things) that had something like
what yours has - one day she just couldn't stand up straight, couldn't
eat, walk, or anything - she just layed on the floor and trembled. The
vet said she had a condition called "fistibular syndrome" (spelling?
maybe "vestibular"). It took a while for her to get over it - in fact
there was a point when we didn't think she would recover enough to keep
her going.
The symptoms were very much like a severe inner ear problem. She
eventually got about 90% better, but it took several weeks and lots of
patience and helping her. I especially had to be careful to keep her
away from stairs. She couldn't jump on/off the bed without falling
during that healing period - I slept on the floor with her so she
wouldn't try to get up and down. But after a couple of months, she was
ok.
After she stabilized, she always cocked her head - that was what was
left of it. She looked cute (at least more cute than usual). She
lived several more years until she died at 8 from a liver disease (RIP,
Earthling...).
Hope yours heals as well as Earthling did...
