5018.0. "Looking for supply of FLUCORT" by COASTL::NDC (Putiput Scottish Folds DTN:297-2313) Wed Oct 16 1991 14:25

A friend of mine just called me with a request. She saw a letter
in the Rotweiller Newsletter that she asked me to pass on.

A person in Pennsylvania has a 10 year old Rotweiler with an
incurable adrenal gland disorder. It is controllable with a
medication that is no longer available for the manufacturer.
    That medication is called FLUCORT.

She is asking all animal lovers to ask their vets if they
have any of this medication. If so, please ask your vet to
    contact:

    Dr. J O'Leary DVM
    Wexford Veterinary Hosp
    Wexford, Pa 15090
    412 935-5911

The person is down to a two month supply.

    Thanks for your help.

I wonder if a major animal hospital like Angell in Boston of Univ. of
Davis in Calif. might have a supply? Or if it might be available
in Canada or some other country?

    Or maybe Tufts?

    Nancy,

I just called my vet's office on this. His's with a patient right now
but his Technician will relay the message and get back to me this
afternoon. She knows they don't have the medication but maybe he knows
of another vet in area that does.

I've sent a note off to my vet. A couple of other ideas: has Dr.
O'Leary called the manufacturer to see if they have any suggestions for
either a source or an alternative medication, and might there be a
for-humans medication that could be used? (Maybe her vet and her M.D.
    should chat....)
