thought it had a home so didn't scoop it up. Is it fluffy or

| I tried to catch the kitten by putting food in the cat carrier and shutting
the door when it went to eat it. It was getting dark when I got home,
but we went through several iterations of this. The kitten was timid enough
to leave when I approached, but it took only minutes to come back. (And this
includes jumping over our neighbors fence again and again.)
I failed, but left the cat carrier with the food on the neighbor's back deck.
I called the neighbors and asked that they shut the door if they could catch
the kitten in the act. This worked successfully. The kitten meowed alot, and
my neighbor's heart melted; she felt a bit guilty for caging the animal,
though she knew it was for the best.
I took the cat home, and my housemate was about to help me put it in a huge
cage that I had set up for it (carpet, litterbox, food and water). But he
couldn't resist holding it for awhile. Inside the house, it seemed so much
calmer. So, we brought it upstairs to watch TV with us. Within about half an
hour, the cat really settled down into my housemate's arms and started
purring. Then I held it for awhile, as it made happy paws. I asked hubby if
he'd like to hold it and he said "no", which I interpreted to mean "yes".
Hubby said, "Make sure you hold on to it; it's going to try and escape".
Instead it just curled up on the blanket beside hubby and purred and purred
and watched TV. My cats seem to be leaving it alone; from my neighbor, I
learned that Rici and the kitten had become friends outside. (I wanted so
much to call my neighbor and tell her everything, but her children were
asleep.)
The kitten is all grey, probably 1/2 siamese and 3-4 months old. Its fur is
like silk. It is in perfect health in terms of beautiful fur and weight.
Its tail has subtle striping in a darker grey. Everyone is melting over it,
including Steve. Don't worry about it being taken to a shelter. Either Steve
will give in (biggest issue here may be the cost of vet care for a new kitten),
my housemate will take it home to his parents, or a fellow noter may be
interested. The kitten is in the big cage while I'm at work, so as not to come
in contact with my cats before being tested/vaccinated.

And he's wonderful!!! He goes in for his round of tests and shots
on Thursday night...He'll be staying with us for a while, and then
he's off to live with Nancy Cross!

| Frodo Baggins has tested negative for Felv/FIV and cochsidia and
is being neutered today. He meets his new sisters (harem?) on
Saturday! He turned out to be about 8 months of age.
Nancy Cross will undoubtedly provide a wonderful home for him. The
kitties even have their own bedroom!

| Just a note to say that this little gray stray kitten is adjusting
well to his new home. He came back from the vet on Saturday, first
round of shots complete, and neutered, with a nice bag of ointments
and antibiotics to treat his worms and mites and his fever (it is
104.5). I found a flea or two, so wrapped him in a towel soaked
with flea spray. He was NOT appreciative, and my scratched hand is
testimony to his irritation! :-)
But we've changed his name. I had called him Frodo and it just
didn't fit. But when I took him home it only took Stephen two hours
to decide on his name. After several attempts to play footsie (or
"Pawsie") under the door with the three ladies of the house
(Zuzu, Bear, and Suki), and after being rebuffed every time with
hiss and spits, Stephen said to me, "Look at him! So sweet and
sensitive and with so much love to give. And not a single lady
will give him the time of day. Let's call him Cyrano." So
Cyrano it is, after that great literary legend who was all eloquence
and heart. Hopefully, my Cyrano will overcome their initial
displeasure and win them over.....
Thank you Paula, for finding Cyrano for us. It was meant to be.
He's a real joy, and Stephen and he are smitten with each other.
This will DEFINITELY be HIS cat.
Oh, and you were right about the head-butts. :-)
