4971.0. "The FIRM has more furniture than I do ..." by EMASS::SKALTSIS (Deb) Mon Sep 30 1991 18:13

    I thought I'd share this "cheep cat furniture" idea with everyone. I have a
    sunny room with two 5 foot wide windows (in addition to the patio
    door). Anyhow, I was at Building 19 1/2 this weekend and purchased a
    couple of cedar "potting tables" for $49.99 each. They are 5 feet long,
    about 2 feet wide and are the perfect height for the window sill. I've got
    one for each window, and each table accommodates 6 cats comfortably. So,
    the entire FIRM can catch rays while they litigate....

    Now, obviously, since these were at Building 19 for this price, they are
    not the top quality benches you see in the yuppie gardening magazines for
    $200. The only thing I could find wrong with them is cosmetic; the wood
    is knotty, but the knots are not falling out or anything. And they are
    sturdy. Assembly takes about 30 minutes with a cordless screwdriver
    (probably less time if your cats don't help you put it together).

    Try explaining to visitors why there's a cat platform made out of tree
    limbs in your kitchen....

    Oh thank God Karen, you have one of these too - for a while I thought I
    was the only one who had one in the kitchen, and yes you do get strange
    looks and comments from people seeing it for the first time - then
    there's the ramp in the long closet, and 2 tunnels in the living room,
    and the stractcing post, and the wicker beds, etc. etc. - but they
    still like the People Furniture Best!

4971.3but there isn't enough room in the bathroom!WR2FOR::CORDESBRO_JOset home/cat_max=infinityMon Sep 30 1991 20:337
    I have a cat tree in my kitchen too, and in my living room, bedroom,
    office, stud room. The only rooms that don't have cat furniture in
    them are the bathrooms!! Oops, shouldn't have vocalized this. Now
    that this discrepancy has been pointed out, the FIRM will be calling
    upon me to correct it.

    Most people laugh and comment on our "mousey hole"....
    We have a upside down U cut in the bottom of the door
    leading to the basement, so the cats can go down to the
    litterboxes. When company comes, all these cats start
    popping out of the hole to see whats going on.....

    The look on some of the faces is great......(-8

4971.5 toys, toys , toys,...SONATA::MCCURDYTue Oct 01 1991 13:3615
     Hmm.... Having just moved a couple of weeks ago.... as I was packing..
    I could not believe the er um kitty stuff I have collected..
     6 round cat beds, a couple of cat trees.. and if MAMACIN was still
    here she would attest to muptiple bags and boxes of cat toys we moved..
    (and of course my shoe/clothing collection.. and then of course there
    were 6 unopened "canned catnip mouse jars,," that she spied... hmm..
    and still I get er um memos from THE FIRM.. indicating I have been
    remiss in the area of cat treats/toys etc.. As a matter of fact..
    I think Ms Preschie has called ARGUS already to indicate that not
    only did I not enter her in Sundays show,, but I also did not drive
    down there and buy treats and toys.. and she did have her list
    of demand er um requests ready.. she also had included Happys
    and Kissys requests as well.. ;^)..
    Kate.. who wonders if ARGUS et al.. will call and announce the
    impending litigation.. or just go ahead and DO IT..
4971.6What's cat furniture? :-)AUKLET::MEIER1 cat, 3 kittens, and 1000 glass insulatorsTue Oct 01 1991 15:236
Could someone please explain the difference between cat furniture and human
furniture? My impression is that human furniture is just a subset of cat
furniture (i.e. cat furniture = human furniture + tunnels + trees + sink +
counter + ...)

4971.7To a cat's eye, all things belong to cats :-)EMASS::SKALTSISDebTue Oct 01 1991 16:035
    "Cat furniture" denotes furniture soly for the use of the cats. It is
    distingished from "human furniture" in that it is for use by both
    feline and human occupants of the household.

4971.9Kate, are you suggesting MS Preshie play with OLD toys?EMASS::SKALTSISDebWed Oct 02 1991 18:5212
    Kate,

    I "overheard" from a "reliable source" that MS Preshie has asked Argus
    to file a "class action suite" against you on "behalf of her 'public'"
    (who must have been disappointed to attend a show only to find that she
    wasn't going to be there. And there is the personal suite she is
    filing about loss of "professional recognition" (after all, some other
    cat most likely got the ribbons that were destined for MS Preshie). And
    of course, by now you have already gotten the letter spelling out your
    remiss-ness in no uncertain terms.

    Deb, thanks for the er um "warning".. so I can assume that she did
    not "buy into" my explanation that all the MAJOR STARS take an
    occasional hiatus from the limelight.
      Geesch.. ARGUs himself is doing the " litigating".. OH-OH..
