4940.0. ""No Kill" shelters in Lower Michigan?" by RLAV::BARRETT (Is it safe?) Tue Sep 17 1991 00:24

Does anyone know of any "no kill" shelters in southern, lower
    Michigan?

My little sister is being force by her landlord to move her cat
out (my little sister took a chance by moving into a no pets
place, and the lady upstairs turned her in).

No one in my family who lives in Michigan (I don't anymore) will
take the cat even temporarily (I think I must have been switched
at birth - I just can't understand why they won't even take her
    temporarily!).

Or does anyone know of anyone in that vicinity who would like to
adopt an affectionate, indoor-outdoor, long haired, petite, all
white cat named Cola? She's a sweetie, and she fetches too! I
would take her but I am over my limit already...

The only problem with any shelter, even if no kill, is illness. I
volunteer in a shelter on the weekends, and many of out cats get
sick, especially the surrendered ones, I guess because they get so
stressed. Do you other shelter workers see this?

I work at another shelter in Mass....and what I find that
once a few cats do get the sniffles...it does spread pretty
quickly. In my opinion...I'm not sure this is due to stress..
or the change in the weather this time a year. It's 40 one
night...and 90 the next day!! We had a very good healthy
    summer with our cats.

good luck in finding a good home for your sister's cat!!
