4901.0. "Angel Memorial on TV " by MR4DEC::COLAIANNI () Wed Sep 04 1991 13:50

    Hi All!

I just wanted to know if anyone caught the program "Rescue 911" last
night. I don't usually watch this program, but was flipping channels,
and happened to see a kitty on the screen so I stopped to see what it
was about. The program had a segment on Angel Memorial Hospital! The
kitty I saw had been hit by a car, (which of course didn't stop) and a
man stopped and kept her quiet until someone came in a van and put the
kitty in a carrier and brought it to the hospital where it went into
    surgery and was doing well.

It also covered a kitty with a liver problem that had me in tears. The
girl who owned him had to have him put down, because she absolutely
could not afford the thousands of dollars for treatment with no
guarantees that the kitty would live. My heart went out to both of
them, and the doctor was a bit emotional about having to do it also.
    Such a hard decision!

They also had a puppy who had eaten a pair of panty hose that got hung
up in his intestines.(sound familiar?) They operated, and showed how
bunched up the intestine was on TV. It was gross, but intersting. The
puppy went home two days later, all shaved on his belly, but happy.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Angel Memorial Hospital in
Boston is now known to be one of the best animal hospitals in the
nation, by the whole nation!! (At least those who caught that program
    ;-) )

It was a repeat....I saw it a few months ago....it was
done well, and if they extended it to a 30 min story,
they could use it to advertise the hospital.

I saw this also, for the second time. My husband saw it for the first.
We were both in tears during the kitty segment... brought back too many
    painful memories for us.

It enjoyed it and would like to see more of this nature. One of the
evening shows had a special on Tufts a few months back and it was good
too. Lynne -- you would have enjoyed it since it focused mainly on
    horses.

Yes, that show was great! I thought it was quite a change of pace and
could relate even more so to that segment than to the people segments.
They ought to do more of that kind of thing. Hats of to Angel
    Hospital!
