4875.0. "SEE WHAT I CAUGHT?" by MLCSSE::MAHON () Fri Aug 23 1991 13:39

I have a cat I adopted from a shelter. She (Sprinkles) loves
to bring me home little "gifts". Last night floored me though.
We pulled in the driveway, and there was the cat standing there
at the end with this thing in its mouth. Before I could even
get out of the car, there she comes strolling to me with it and
meowing at the same time. Ick! Then she dropped it. I walked
over to our trash can and when I turned around....there she was
again. coming right at me with this chipmunk hanging from her
mouth! Like, what did she want me to do with this thing! My
husband was grossed out, she kept following me everywhere.

Finally I went in the house and came to the door a few minutes
later and she had brought it to the bottom of the stairs and
placed it underneath a cat food back I had thrown over the side
of the deck. Weird... I pushed the chipmunk in the bag with a
twig and put it in the trash outside.

Now I just hope my husband doesn't reach in for anything..........

Sprinkles is taking care of you since you have no proper teeth
or claws of your own with which to hunt. Proper feline ediquette
dictates that you thank you profusely for her "gift". Then, when
she isn't looking you put it in the trash. ;^)

hint:

past experience indicates that if you do not praise and thank your hunter
for taking care of you....you may find the next "gift" in bed with you...
our old Siamese Tabs did bring Marge, her person, a "well-mashed-up mouse"
to her bed one morning. Marge's response was quite impressive. By the
time I made it down the hall to her room, bedding was flying everywhere...
and the cats were all standing at her door looking quite impressed with
the activity going on.

the joy of living with cats...never a dull moment..

Nothing better than walking into your barn and seeing
regurgetated "mouse" left behind.....and it is not
even your cat that left it!!

4875.6EVER PUNISH A FISH BEFORE?MLCSSE::MAHONWed Sep 04 1991 16:489
Well, since my first note Sprinkles has struck again! Sometimes
she leaves them headless, other times whole. I praise her, and the
first time I did it, did I get a rashing at the gym from my husband
telling other people. Then, when I ever punished a fish for attacking
    a fantail!

Am I ready for the white coat because of my pets?

I'm sorry, but my imaging module could not come up with any sane way to punish
a fish....hold it out of the water for a few seconds? (no, too cruel)...chase
it around the tank with the net? (well, maybe, but that might seem like fun
to a fish)....the mind simply boggles. I know it is REAL hard to spank under
water, OR to hold a fish still for a spanking, so....
