4867.0. "CAT QUOTES" by MODEL::CROSS () Tue Aug 20 1991 17:22

There are so many great cat quotes that I decided to see if any of you
had one or two you'd like to share. Here are a few that I love from a
small book called The Literary Cat by Running Press.

    		"At dinner time he would
    		     sit in a corner,
    		 concentrating, and
    	      suddenly they would say,
    		'time to feed the cat,'
as if it were their own idea."

-- Lilian Jackson Braun, American Writer

    		"He lives in half-lights
    		 in secret places, free and
    		   alone--this mysterious
    		  little-great being whom
    		      his mistress calls
    		         'My Cat.'"

    				-- Margaret Benson, English Writer

    		"Give her but a wavering
    	 	 leaf-shadow of a breeze
    		 combing the grasses and
    		  she was back a million
    		 years, glaring with night-
    		 lit eyes in the thickets,
    		 projecting a terrible aura
    		  of fear that stilled and
    		    quelled all creatures."

    				-- Paul Annixter, American Writer

    		"Even overweight cats
    		 instinctively know the
    		 cardinal rule: when fat,
    		    arrange yourself in
    			slim poses."

    				-- John Weitz, American Designer

The difference between cats and dogs is...
When you call a dog, it will come. When you
call a cat, it will take a message and get
		back to you later...

I don't remember who wrote it, but I loved this quote

The pleasure of living with a cat is in the
magic of living with a denizen of the
untamed places we know in our dreams. Cats
are not domestic animals...they are our own
wild souls enthroned in these gentle, beautiful
and wild creatures that we love.

"No matter how much cats fight, there always seems to be plenty of
    kittens."
