4859.0. "Grey Ball of Fluff" by USDEV1::NDC (Putiput Scottish Folds DTN:297-2313) Fri Aug 16 1991 09:01

I decided to start a note on little GBOF (Grey ball of fluff) so
that I could give you updates.

So far I see no signs of illness at all. He spends his days at
"Kitty Day-care", otherwise known as my neighbor's (Thank you
Denise & Co - a trusted neighbor is an invaluable assett).
Denise noticed that he's much more alert and spends more time
sitting up and trying to get out of the box :^)

So, today he's in a much larger box so he can walk around and
develop his strength and coordination. He also has a little
litter box since I noticed that he managed to pee in his box
yesterday. Lets hope instinct takes over now.

I have also changed his diet to a mixture of baby food and KMR.
We're still feeding him with a bottle but I'm starting to put
a small shallow dish of food out for him and to try and get him
to lick food off my fingers. Hopefully it won't be long before
he's eating and drinking out of a dish.

GBOF has that wonderful, endearing kitten purr-sonality. He's
sweet, affectionate and seems quite happy now. I think he's
going to be quite a kitty when he grows up. :^)

Oh - for those of you who don't know, GBOF is a 3.5 week old
abandoned kitten that I am hand raising until he's old enough
to go to his new home with Karen Thibodeau.

Well, we've had GBOF for one week now and he is very noticeably bigger
than he was when I got him. He's got a gorgeous coat - thick and
silvery. His eyes and nose remain healthy and clear.

He now gets baby food mixed with his KMR - he's eating ALOT more at
each feeding and seems to really enjoy the food. I'm not having alot
of luck teaching him to eat out of a dish, but I haven't really tried
    yet either.

He is very very sweet and very responsive to humans. Such a love!!

GBOF is now using his catbox regularly! Its really quite amazing
    (and a relief!).

This morning he was snuffling some like he had something stuck in
his nose. I'm a tad worried and told Denise at "kitty daycare"
to watch him closely. If its not better by tonight I'll wisk
    him to the vet's immediately.

Well, GBOF met Dr. Harris last night. Everyone thought he was just
beautiful! Karen, I could have adopted him out about 6 times over
    now.

Dr. Harris feels that he's younger than I thought, and I agree with
him. GBOF doesn't have the coordination that Angel's kittens have.
I am revising my estimated age by about 1 week. He's probably about
3 weeks old now which would make him about 12-14 days old when he
was found. I'm just used to those little purebred kittens.

GBOF has a mild upper respiratory track infection but no fever. He
is on Amoxi drops for now. My only concern is that a stuffed nose
    will interfear with nursing.

Well, things got a tad interesting over the weekend when GBOF decided
not to eat. This started Saturday evening and I had to force feed
him most of Sunday. By Sunday evening tho he was back to nursing
on his own and has been sucking it down now just fine. I'd say
    he's probably on the mend.

He's getting very active and lets me know in no uncertain terms
that he does NOT like being confined to the carrier. He tells me
he gets to run around at Kitty Daycare!!

Well, GB seems to be 100% healthy and is eating on his own now. I
am thinking Scooter would be a more appropriate name for him. All
    he does is scoot around.

He has now had his first kitten shot and gets cuter and more beautiful
    every day.

Karen and I had a chat and decided that she is not going to take him
after all. It just isn't the right time right now.

I'm undecided as to what to do with him myself. I am quite smitten
and I think he'd make a wonderful HHP to show. However, Jack is after
me to drop the catcount a bit and he DOES have a point. As a breeder
I can only support so many "pets". Some of the cats have to earn some
of their keep. Just good business sense. ALso, I'm having an awful
    time with Dundee.

Sooooo...... if the right INDOOR only home presents itself I can
probably be pursuaded to part with GBOF. If anyone is interested
    please contact me.
