| Cheryl,
If you want to cancel your order I'll sell you my copy (brand new) for
half the price!!
I think the book is invaluable for breeders; for me, the cat lover and
collector (as Jill so aptly put it!!), it was a little too advanced and
technical.
If it isn't too late to cancel your order maybe we can work something
out.

| I donated the book to the shelter that I work at and Priscilla
found it very helpful in giving her ideas on what to do in
the new shelter design as well as best ways to keep the cat
area clean and germ free. There is a whole section dealing
with this topic.
The book also gets into all the diseases and cures...but like
Roberta I found it pretty technical and not easy to read or
understand. One way it could be used is to read up on a
particular disease and when you do visit the vet ask him
all your questions. Some pictures are pretty grotesque
and show details of deformed or sick cats.
I'm sure some more experience breeders (such as Jo) gets
alot more out of the book then just your normal cat lover.

| Cheryl,
I entered a review of this book several months ago, but I think it is
under the Books topic. Check the keywords. Robera and Sandy are right,
the book is technical, but I have found it to be invaluable. As a
breeder, I think it is important to have several books in your library
to get you through the hard times. They are:
Feline Husbandry
Cornell Book of Cats
Genetic for Cat Breeders by Roy Robinson *or*
Cat Genetics by A.C. Jude
Breeding Purebred Cats by Anne S. Moore
Between these books, you should have every subject covered, from how to
detect disease to how to tell when your cat's approaching labor, to how
to make a nourishing formula for orphan kittens. I keep these books on
my bedside nightstand so they are there when I need them.

| I've got the Cornell Book of Cats -- where would I find
the Genetics for Cat Breeders and/or Cat Genetics, and
Breeding Purebred Cats? I frequent our local bookstores
and the only one I found was the Cornell Book. Are these
available at stores, or is it by mail order? I'll check
my bookstore again tonight (we have 3 in the area). If the
don't carry them, (or if they are mail order) could I
possibly get someone to buy them for me, and I'll pay
for the books (postage and handling too???)
Thanks!

| Cheryl,
I ordered all three of those books through my local bookstore. I found
them by checking the subject guide at the book store. Then just
ordered them from there. Breeding Purebred Cats by Anne S. Moore is a
little paperback, but it is full of practical information given in a
straight forth style. I use it everytime I have a litter due. It
costs about $5.00 I think. The other two are probably no longer in
print and will have to be ordered from the publisher. I think that the
Roy Robinson book is a bit more current, but both are good books. I
think they will cost you about $15 each or so.
