4821.0. "HEATHER WAS SCARED" by CANYON::WARKMEISTER () Wed Jul 31 1991 12:51

Mike, and I actually saw Heather scared last night! We couldn't help
but laugh! She is always confident, and fearless! Mike, and I were
playing with her. She was getting into that high energy stage. He
whispered a low, scruffy voice, and she didn't know what to think. Her
back arched up, and she started to get a bottle brushed looking tail.
She didn't like that voice at all. She jumped up on one of the chairs
in the living room, and when Mike moved toward her, she tried to defend
herself! You could really see the fear in her eyes.

What are some of the ways you have scared your cats without really
    meaning to?

    Hope to hear from you!

    Julie

P.S. - I remember one lady telling the story that her husband
was in disguise. This scared their cats.

A couple of nights ago, T.K. was curled up in a basket sitting on
a coffee table. The basket is not his, we use it to throw mail
in but he decided he liked it. Doesn't bother me.

Anyhow, he is laying they dozing and I was picking up a few things.
I picked up a sock filled with some catnip and tossed it onto T.K.'s
back. I expected him to sniff it and start playing. Nope, he
leaped out of his skin, sent the basket and everything on the coffee
table to the floor as he flew halfway across the room! I was laughing
so hard and he just looked at me disdainfully and gave himself an
	indignant bath.

4821.2What a chicken.SELECT::RIVERSI'd rather be rich.Wed Jul 31 1991 15:3810
I brought home a rabbit last night. Freeway, who in kittenhood was
absolutely fearless, was terrified of it. His eyes were huge, his fur
stood up all over, back was arched, tail was big, head down low, and he
was motionless. Very stifflegged when he did move.

Considering that the bunny sat it her cage and didn't so much as
venture out near him, I thought it was rather amusing.

A couple of nights ago, my husband Bill was having a very bad night, awaking
several times from nightmares. In one case, he woke up with a shout. That
woke me up immediately, yelling from surprise. All of a sudden the bed was
alive with furfaces running for cover!!

Once the smoke detector went off (OK, so It was because I BURNED
dinner!) and we just went into the other room to shut it off for a few
mins. I didn't even think about it scaring the cats. Almost TEN minutes
later I went into the bedroom & they were both hiding in there, puffed
all up like they had been in the dryer, and big eyed! They were looking
like they were defending themselves against one another. I immediately
interrupted the stare down w/ lots of love and everything was fine. It
was pretty funny seeing them like that tho!
