4796.0. "Free kitten to a good home - please help!" by STAR::ELBEERY (Susan Elbeery DTN 381-0561) Tue Jul 16 1991 10:38

This past weekend I took in a little stray kitten. He was wandering around
a farm meowing, and when I called him over, he came running. He rubbed up
against me, purred, and kept following me. When I petted him, I could see
that he was extremely undernourished - all I could feel were his ribs. His
tail was filled with burrs, and his eye was running. Anyhow, I decided that
I could not leave this poor little thing there to starve, so I took him home.

He is the most affectionate cat I have ever seen. He slept in my lap in
the car all the way home, purring. When I gave him food, he was so excited
that he kept running to me and then back to the food, until he finally gobbled
it up. He jumped up in my lap and allowed me to comb all the burrs out,
to clip his nails, clean his ears, and put flea powder all over him. He
purred through all this! He found a tall box to sleep in, and
whenever I go to see him, he pops out of the box like a jack-in-the-box (so
I named him "jack").

Yesterday I took him to my vet. The vet said he's about 4-6 months old.
He was tested for FeLV and it came back negative. He has ear mites and
worms and a respiratory virus - all of which I got medicine to treat him
with. He's eating and using the litter box. Next week I will take him back
for his vaccinations/shots. Then he should be 'as good as new!

I can't keep him. I already have two cats and cannot keep a
third. I need to find a good home for him - he is the perfect lap kitty!
Can anyone help me? He's all gray with with paws and belly - short hair.

    Susan,

Is he going to be ealthy after taking the medicine? I'm interested,
if he's still available. Call me at DTN 276-8143. Where do you live?
Or work? I hope not in New Hampshire.

    Thanks,

    Jo
