4763.0. "Baypath Humane Society Spay Fund" by MODEL::CROSS () Mon Jul 01 1991 17:27

This is a note asking for help! I know times are tough, but for feline
lovers, this is a great cause. There is a woman volunteer by the name
of Elaine Brim who works at the Baypath Humane Society in Hopkington,
MA. As most of you know, they have been in a precarious position
lately regarding their lease. However, I just spoke with Elaine, and
they feel that things are looking up in this regard!

Elaine is a wonderful woman, and she has taken it upon herself to begin
spaying the adult females that come into the shelter. This is her own
money, so you know how much she cares for the animals in her care. I
told her that I would put a note in the file asking for contributions
to what she calls her Spay Fund. Any amount would be welcome. She
asks that checks be made out to the vet who does the work for her, and
as funds trickle in, each cat will be spayed in turn. Here is the
    address...

Checks made payable to: Slade Veterinary Clinic

    Sent to:	Baypath Humane Society
    		C/O Elaine Brim
    		P.O. Box 23
    		Hopkington, MA 01748-0023

To spay a cat costs Elaine $30.00. She says things have been slow this
month, and it hurts to have to turn away the many people who want to
drop off kittens and cats at the shelter. (At Baypath, animals are not
put down...they are kept till adopted, thus the problem with space).

This is Elaine's effort to keep down the numbers of kittens born each
day -- a great number of which never find happy homes.

Thanks everyone! I know times are tough...but it IS a noble cause.
