4724.0. "Normal Stats for Cats" by TOMLIN::ROMBERG (money: it's only paper) Fri Jun 14 1991 15:26

I'd like to create this topic as a repository of some general (health) stats
regarding felines. For starters:

What's the normal heart rate (range) for an adult cat?

What's the normal heart rate (range) for kittens?

What's the normal respiration (range) for an adult cat?

What's the normal respiration (range) for kittens?

What's the normal temperature (range) for an adult cat?

What's the normal temperature (range) for kittens?

Don't know heart rate and respiratory rates, but temps I do know.

Normal temp for a cat is between 101-102.5. This can be a bit higher
if the cat is upset, or excited. Anything over 103 should be brought
    to the vet's attention immediately.

I took down some stats like that at the MSPCA lecture.

                      220 (puppies)

(capillary refill time - depress the gum and see how long it takes
for the color to return. Greater than 2 sec can mean shock or low
      Blood Pressure)

    + mucous membrane color -
RED = septic, head stroke or High BP
WHITE = Low BP, Anemia, Shock
BLUE = low oxygen (cyanosis) - respiratory problem
