| A couple of suggestions: Kittens are extremely high energy; he may
need you to play catch the catnip mouse with him to work off some
of that energy. Is he due in for a vet visit, just in case he has
a tooth bothering him or somesuch (no idea when kitten teeth come in).

| A freind of mine has an 18 year old Aby who still acts like and has the
energy level of a teenager - she's really something to observe - she'll
jump straight up to the top of the china closet - up to the beams in
the celling - hang out up there for a while and drop in your lap for a
quick nap and then starts in again. I don't know if this is typical of
the breed but I understand that Abys are supposed to be full of energy.
Good luck,
Giudi

| Kittens go through a stage in which they do not crave human attention
that much. During this time, they don't want to be held and
cuddled...there are too many things to explore and play with. It is a
phase of their development. With my Birman kittens, this stage starts
around 8 weeks and lasts to about 12 weeks. They grow out of it. But,
you still want to try and give the kitten attention while he is in the
stage, cuz this is also the time that habits start to form (like
biting).
Aby's are very high energy. They may slow down a bit in adulthood, but
they are still more active than most cats.

Thank you Jo, that's all I wanted to know.
I know that Abyssinian are full of energy and stay like
that most of their life but i was afraid about the
affection part to me it is very important that my cat is
affectionate with me.
Just one more thing, should I let him do what he wants for
now, or should I try to pay alot of attention so he does
not forget me.....

kittens need to be handled -- failure to do so makes for an unfriendly
aloof cat. While he isn't in the mood for cuddling, make sure he gets
picked up and cuddled for a brief session, at least, several times a day.

| My Aby (Zula) is EXTREMELY affectionate, but on his terms. He doesn't
like to be picked up and held but he loves to cuddle with you (he just
wants to be the boss of when he is cuddled). When I first come home
from work, he follows me around for at least an hour. He doesn't leave
me alone. He purrs up a storm and keeps head butting me if I stop
patting him. He also sleeps cuddled up with me all night long. He
sleeps on top of the comforter, right between my legs. Sometimes I'll
have a restless night. I'll roll over, knocking him aside. He just
waits patiently until I reposition myself and then he gets cozy again. He
just turned 2 years old. I got him when he was 14 weeks old. He
didn't like to be picked up then either. He is still VERY active and
playful. I do have another cat (one year old mutt) and they keep
each other young. They are constantly in high speed chases. They're a
riot to watch.
