4601.0. "Car hood dining table (yuck)" by DEMON::MURPHY () Wed May 01 1991 13:35

The following is posted for a friend who doesn't get into Feline
Notes much but I thought someone here could help or has had the
problem themselves.

"Need some advice on what to do about a neighborhood cat that uses
hood of my car as a dining table. The past couple of days, I've
walked out to my "white" car to find the remains of a mostly-eaten
bird right on the hood of my car!!! Feathers, bones, blood...YUCK!

What a god-awful sight. I can only assume some kitty is using the
hood of my car as a dining room table.

I'm not too pleased about having to clean that mess off of my car -
it's really BARF CITY!

Any suggestions on how I can stop this critter from having his/her
midnight snacks on my Firebird-Table? Is there something I could
leave on the hood of my car (without having to cover it in plastic
every night) that would discourage kitty from getting on hood?
I was thinking of spraying bitter-apple on it, but I don't know what
that would do to my paint job. Do you think that would work?"

Thanks
Pat

There is a spray called "Boundry" that is supposed
to be harmless to furniture, plants, etc. that might
work for your situation. It's available for dogs &
for cats and you could spray the area around your car,
    too.

4601.2Where can she get this?DEMON::MURPHYThu May 02 1991 09:464
Thanks, Lynne. Who carries "Boundry" in their store?

Gee...all I get is little paw prints all over my car....they love to
sit on my car and look in my windows! But they leave their presents
on my porch. Right under the door...of course.

Sorry...I don't have any suggestions but I would be careful when
trying different "sprays" on your car. Try spraying a section
that isn't to noticable...before spraying the hood.

    Good luck...Sandy

Hammer Hardware in Nashua carries Bourdry. My sister sprayed all
around her newly tilled garden last night and as she was leaving
the area the neighbors cat came over and smelled around and promptly
    left, NOT ENTERING THE GARDEN.

A major victory I might add.

I'd be careful about what I sprayed on my car's finish, but as a
suggestion perhaps you could spray it on an old sheet or blanket and
spread that over the area where he usually leaves his calling card.

    Hi,

I'm the person having the problem. Thanks, Pat Murphy, for entering
    the note for me.

I am going to try the suggestion in .5 - using an old sheet (luckily
    I have a king sized bed) :-)

I have an odd driveway set-up and am leery of spreading repellants
on the ground surrounding the car as I do not want to confuse my
own pets. They love to ride and I don't want to change that.

Thanks for your suggestions. Hopefully this will work. I love
animals and do as much as I can for them, however, I have a very weak
stomach and to see this mess first thing every morning has been
quite a sickening experience for me.

    Thanks again.

There are worse places, like the middle of a Persian run. You know,
one of those with a big patch of multi-colored bits and pieces in
the middle and you can't see where pattern ends and mouse guts start
(or worse). Why do I love cats?????
