What about an Egyptian or Ethiopian(the modern name of Abyssinia)
name?? South Africa's a LONG way south of his homeland...
How about "Ra"? Ra is the ancient Egyptian Sun God...
Or "Ramses", the name of more than one of the ancient
Egyptian Pharaohs?
Or "Aladdin", who found the magic lantern in "The Arabian
Nights"
Or "Ali", The son of Mohammed, and 4th Caliph of Islam.
Or "Amon-Re", another spelling of the Egyptian Sun God.
Or "Emir", A ruler or prince..

I finally find a name last night,and I decided to call
my Aby: Pharoh. I loved Ramses but I want to keep that
name for my next cat an "Egyptian Mau.
