4578.0. "A Great Capture!!!!..Bright-Eyes!" by BUFFER::WESTON () Tue Apr 23 1991 09:41

     ************ HORAY!!!!!!!!!

Last nite Priscilla and her husband from the Pat Brody Animal Shelter
in Lunenburg came down for a great rescue for me and my husband.

For years, Bright Eyes has been the MAIN MOMA of the Dudley Road Gang
in my neighborhood. I've tried over the past 2 years with my hubby to
catch her. She has had many a litter unfortunately and I was always
    sad to see this.....

Well I got her in the house around 7:00 P.M. and let her settle down.
My husband called Priscilla and they arrived about 8:45. It was pretty
hard sitting there quite and listening to her cry, but during our wait,
she settled down. She is VERY PREGO!!!!!!!!!!! They, Priscilla and
her husband, didn't think Bright Eyes was too Feral. But she would
barely walk into our home and I couldn't pick her up.

She's around 6 years old, short-haired calico with beautiful eyes.

If she doesn't have her litter, she'll be spayed right away and after
seeing if she's healthy, and time of healing she'll be brought back to
our neighborhood, possibly, to live her life out. I don't know if
she's placeable, I'd love someone to give her a chance.

She's been very independant for a long time, but I feel she can be
    loved.

************ One other note: 3 weeks ago, Kim Traingque came to our
home to catch some kitties. We did catch Calico, who is 1 1/2 years
old and was pregnant. She has been spayed and is presently at the
shelter. She is a long-haird calico. She is very friendly.

*********** I have more to catch and will be happy for them and us!!!,
when they are caught and placed from the shelter.

We are like many of us, financially strapped! This is costing the
Shelter alot of money, especially if these babies are born. We, my
husband and I will donate as we can and when we can and will be working
with Priscilla to raise monies too. So I'm encouraging all of you to
please donate from your heart on the raffle Kim Trainque has mentioned

Thank you Nancy DC for the help in bringing these people into my life,
    to save these kitties........

Congratulations on catching Bright Eyes. That's great news. I talked
to Priscilla last night about 7:00. I also played with all the kittens
she has available. I can't believe I walked out of there without one
in my pocket. I have to get up to the shelter and see how Calico is
    doing.

Great job and keep it up.

    Carol:

Congratulations on the good work - it always makes me feel so good to
hear things like this. How many are left to be taken care of??

I recently got a flyer from the organization that helped with the
ferals in the gardens down the way from me (Pets & Pals) and they have
started a "Population Zero" thing here in San Francisco. Members and
volunteers are taking it block by block to capture and spay/nuter
the ferals - place the ones that are placeable, etc. Any way that you
could hook up with an organization like this for some support?

Well this made my day - it's wonderful to know that there are people
out there like you who are taking the initiative. Congratulations and
    keep up the good work!!!!!

    THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not knowledgeable of any organization such as yours. Your very
lucky. I have 3 females (who I'm sure will be prego...) under 1 years
old. They have a brother. I have a male 1 1/2 years old. These I
have definite plans of catching. I feel I can catch 3 out of the 5,
but will try for all. If not, will be borrowing a Have-A-heart trap.

Then I have -- males, some a bit friendlier than others, about 5 which
I hope to get in the trap too.

I want to save them as well as help us on the cost of food. I know the
Pat Brody Shelter will take them, and place the ones I have socialized.
But I cannot afford the total costs of all, even now, I couldn't give
anything (yet) for Bright Eyes, but will each week.

I feel good when I hear, like your captures, of these kitties being
rescued and the kitty-line cut! I hope to just a couple to none
outside and save them from the cold, streets, and dogs.

Folks - Priscilla has absolutely NO extra money right now and no
extra space until the new shelter is built. (The foundation has
    been poured)

The Pat Brody Shelter will be represented at the Pet Fair in Concord
on May 5th. If you go and If you donate PLEASE tell Priscilla to
put it towards the cost of care for Carol Weston's cats, aka "The
Dudley Road Strays". This rescue is going to run up quite a bill
that neither the shelter nor Carol can afford. Your help will be
    greatly appreciated.

re: Calico - She's a doll! I helped transport her to Fallon Animal
Hospital. She's an inquisitive little talker. Definitely a great
    kitty! And BEAUTIFUL!!

4578.6Bright eyes updateMR4DEC::KTRAINQUEWed Apr 24 1991 16:1514
Bright Eyes gave birth to five kittens last night. Another mother gave
birth to three. That brings the grand total up to 26 in Priscilla's
house right now. Plus the mothers.

I am in the process of moving. Once I am moved I will also be taking
in some of the overflow. In the meantime, any leads on placing kittens
or preferably adults would be greatly appreciated.

I just $150.00 for a stray we brought in because the shelter is
strapped right now. The stray is now available for adoption, her name
    is Abigail.

If it's possible, I'd like to have a description of some of these
kittens (coat color, eye color--once real color comes in, coat length,
    etc.). They sound adorable!!

wants 2 kittens and forwarded the note!

I spoke to Priscilla last night and she asked me to share
with you...that when she went to see Bright Eyes yesterday
morning...she found another kitten. So that makes 6 for
Bright eyes. She also commented that she has never seen
such a variety of "different" kittens from one cat. Bright
    Eyes must have slept around!!!

4578.10Gee!, another one?BUFFER::WESTONTue Apr 30 1991 09:5112

Hi........Sandy, Bright Eyes delivered another kitty, days later? Does
this happen often? She does have quite the litters...........she has
had 5 - 6 usually and she does loose 1 or 2 to the eliments outside.

She "DID" have quite a choice in her parteners, about 5 of them! She
    there's all the kitties.

    Thanks for the update!

I know it wasn't days later...it was the next day. But it is possible
that Priscilla only saw 5 the first time...and number 6 was hiding...
or maybe she did deliver number 6 the next day. So far....all kittens are
doing fine....there so cute!! Hopefully you can get to go over and see
    them...

She has one...I'm not sure of the "real color" but it looks like a
tannish/cream. Very different color...one that I'm not use to seeing!!!

That tannish/cream may be a cream or cameo. Very pretty kitty.
That's what one of Bonnie's is.
