Greetings. I have just found this notes file today and
have had a wonderful time browsing. Although thought it
would be wise to put a question out on the wire before
I drive my vet crazy. We had Alexander, our black
Persian, fixed a month ago when he was a little over
6 months old. Well, before that time he used to make
love to a stuffed cat I keep on the bed. But I
assumed all that would stop. It hasn't, it's gotten
worse. In fact, the grand madame of the house, Jessica,
who is 8 and spayed, has begun avoiding him assiduously
because he keeps trying to mount her. Or if she isn't
able to avoid him, the fur and the claws fly.
Does anyone know how to calm this cat down?

| It can take a while for the hormones to die down after a male cat is neutered.
Maybe your cat just needs some more time. On the other hand, some cats just
like to mount things and never seen to get over the habit, right Marlene?? :^)
Probably your female cat will get the message across to him that what he is
doing is socially unacceptable behavior and he will leave her alone. :^)

| I also have a fixed male (Dewey...the little sick baby who was
almost on his death bed) that still loves to mount a few of my
females. He was fixed at Christmas time.....
You should see Dewey now...he is 11 lbs and what a hunk of a man!!!
His red coloring his beautiful...and to think I thought he was grey
when he first come home. His personaliy is wonderful...he is still
so happy to be alive!! Now if we could only stop the mounting!!!

| Linus does it with his friend Mr. Rat (A large stuffed rat) and has
been doing it ever since he was neutered years ago. Linus is so funny
because he carries Mr. Rat to every room in the apartment and does it a
little in each room. He also likes to stand in front of the bathroom
mirror and watch--though he yells at me if I see him. This poor
stuffed animal is almost all destuffed--I couldn't ever get rid of it.
