Hi all, Having spent the weekend mourning Molly and hugging my own 5, I was reminded vividly this morning why we keep kittens in our lives. Thank you, Madison!!! Madison isn't technically a kitten anymore. Our guess is that she is about a year plus a few months. However, no one has told her this so she thinks she can still act kittenish - ALL THE TIME... This morning we heard great commotion outside the kitchen window. Outside this window is the roof to my bulkhead - a flat roof that the cats love to perch on because they can see in the window and tell us to let them in. Well, I went over the see what all the noise was and there, acting like a total fool, was Madison with................. a worm. She tossed this poor worm into the air, batted it with her fat paw, turned somersaults over it, watched while it wiggled, and then started all over again. My son and I were laughing so hard we were in tears. Madison would occasionally stop and turn to the window, usually with the worm in her mouth, as if to show us how brave she was. Ah, kittens..... this is surely why we keep them around. Loving my kitties but wondering when they will grow up!!!! Ellen

Ya, me, too. For the past few years, I seem to have had lots of kittens in the house. Last night, Mikey, my adopted feral baby, was watching TV in his usual manner, which is sitting on the leather otterman, which has been permanently moved to directly in front of the set. Mike sits on it and reaches up to attack anything that moves on the screen. It's so much fun to watch him chase the moving images. He was particularly enjoying the basketball game when he reached up and smacked his paw right into the basket! Two points for Mikey!! I laughed so hard that I disturbed his concentration, so he jumped down, ran over to me, climbed up on my lap, and gave me a big kiss and hug. Then it was back to the game... My baby kitten...all my baby kittens! Where would I be without them???? Whenever this world is diminshed by the loss of one of our beloved pets, it makes me love my own even more... But, honestly, 6 is TOO MANY!! Mary |
