4443.0. "SAM" by CSSE::MANDERSON () Fri Mar 08 1991 13:54

I just received some fabulous news that I wanted to share with all of
    you.

If you remember - Sam was a cat that I rescued but unfortunately due to
his severe health problem and the fact that my two cats and Sam could
not adjust - I had to give him up. I brought him to Central Animal
Hospital (he still wasn't well) in Leominster and discussed the whole
issue with Dr. Mulcahy. (There are numerous notes in this file
regarding 'Sam' - #3888 is just one of them.)

Anyway - Wednesday we received a card in the mail from the Hospital
reminding us of Tiffany's yearly appointment for a 'check' and shots
and when my daughter called to set up the time, she asked the status
    of Sam.

He is now their 'house' cat. He had a tumor on his thyroid - which Dr.
Mulcahy removed...and everyone loved him so much - he has now taken
over the place. I am planning on going in to see him and hold him for
    awhile within the next week.

Anyone who remembers reading about the whole adoption process, his
illness and the heart-wrenching decision I had to make giving him
up - will be happy to know that Sam is alive and well and is loved
by everyone who goes into that office.

I can't say enough about Dr. Mulcahy. She promised me she wouldn't put
him down (needlessly) and she kept her word. I still feel sad that we
couldn't keep him with us - but am thrilled to know that he is around
so many people who love him so much.

How wonderful for Sam! Dr. Mulcahy sounds like a very special person.
I just love to hear stories with happy endings. Thanks for sharing
    that with us.

4443.2I've met him tooISLNDS::BARR_LIs it Friday yet?Fri Mar 08 1991 16:2611
I have to admit, Sam is a very beautiful cat. He's extremly
friendly and will just sit there and and let you pat him. He's
also extremly curious - I brought Snowball in the other day in a
cardboard cat carrier. All of a sudden I heard this noise that
sounded like Snowball had jumped out of the box. I looked down
to see that Sam had jumped onto the box causing the top to collapse
so she could get a better look at what was inside. I think Snowball
may have been frightened a bit, but it was quite humorous because
I don't think Sam was expecting the box to collapse.

So so Happy to hear about Sam. That is great news...and I bet
he gets alot of attention. I've been wondering about him (and
you, tiffiny and otis) because we haven't heard from you for
    awhile.

Thanks for posting the update...and cheers to Sam who stole
    the heart of Dr. Mulchay.

4443.5Sam has a new home!CSSE::MANDERSONFri Apr 12 1991 11:1520
Tracey took Tiffany to the Dr's for her shots, etc. and asked to see
Sam. Dr. Mulcahy said that someone in the notes file read where he
was available and they adopted him the week before Easter.

I am so happy for him and for THEM. He is such a love.

I don't know who the new adoptive parents are but if you read this
note - please give him a big hug and a kiss from me (and Tracey).

P.S. He loves to be brushed (preferably a baby brush - it's the
only spare one I could find in the house and he got so that
that's the only one he wanted). He also loves to be cuddled
at night. He loves soft music and (believe it or not)
sometimes slept on my bed with a stuffed pig. I have pictures
of him with 'it' if you would like a re-print of them!

snif snif....miss him but I am glad he's in a good home!

I remember the story! I was so pleased when I started reading this
note, but I'm even happier now that Sam has got a proper home. It's
    just wonderful news!

I hope the new owner is reading this and is able to give us an
    update...

    Bye for now,
