| that's really great, but I'm afraid I couldn't that. I'd probably get
too attached and not want to let go of the animal once the owners came
back.

| There was a spot on some news program awhile back about a lot
of animals that had to be taken to shelters because their
owner were shipped out. My impression was that these babies were
not going to be boarded for six months, a year, however long,
but rather euthanized, as it was that kind of shelter. I assume
the boarding costs for long term care are beyond many peoples means.
I will censor out my opinion of the American government's lack of
interest in a diplomatic solution.

4392.3 | MA program? | HYEND::KTRAINQUE | | Fri Feb 15 1991 15:20 | 8 |
| Does anyone know of a program like that in MA? I'd like to volunteer
for one. I have a brother and a very close friend over there. Both of
them left their pets behind. My sister-in-law has their cat, and my
friend's mom luckily agreed to take his cat. I know others aren't so
lucky. Any information on this program would be greatly appreciated.

Try calling the MSPCA. The Humane Society in Nashua was just talking
the other day about setting up a similar program. All we need now is a
budget and some volunteers to get it rolling.....

| Another benefit to this foster program is that in the sad case where
the soldier doesn't come back, the animal already has a home. The
chances for permanent placement in the foster home are far better
than if the cat was in a shelter.
