4391.0. "Cost savings alert (I paid $1.80/cs w/coupons)..." by BOOVX1::MANDILE () Fri Feb 15 1991 10:18
To those of you who buy catfood (& dogfood) at the grocery store....
Ocean State Job Lot, Rte 109 Medway, MA, (Exit 19 off 495)
sells canned & dry catfood by the case & individually. They get in
unlabeled stock, closeouts, special deals, caselots, etc.
$$$ - 24 cans per case/ 3 oz Alpo canned catfood - 4/$1.00
Ditto 3 oz 9-lives
Fancy Feast/Amore' 3 oz cans - $3.99/case of 24
9-lives dry catfood 7 lb bag $3.99 a bag.
Alpo canned beef dinner dogfood (can't remember cost)
Alpo dry dogfood
They have no membership (like BJ's), sell unlimited quantities,
take manufacturers coupons, and the prices are good. (great!)
However, they sell out fast, and are always changing what they
may have on the shelf (i.e. 2 weeks ago they had 6 oz cans 9-lives)
I have bought & used the food, no problems whatsoever.......
Lynne
(P.S., they carry other items - they are similar to BJ's)

| Lynne,
I go to the one in South Yarmouth when I visit my grandmother. I have
bought the Fancy Feast unlabled cans by the case too. The price is
great, I think 3.99. The flavor was one of the ground liver/chicken or
something like that.

4391.2 | How is BJ's for cheap catfood? | SMURF::CHANDLER | And the bits go on . . . . . | Mon Mar 04 1991 13:30 | 11 |
| Hi,
Has anyone had any experience with getting catfood at BJ's in Salem.
I used to go there several years ago. Are their prices good for
Whiskas wet food or Purina dry foods? Watson and Sherlock seem to do
best with those brands. I've been thinking about joining at BJ's
again, and wondering if it's worth doing.
Thanks,
Liz

| The only canned cat food I've seen at BJ's is 9 Lives and Fancy
Feast. Neither were cost effective for me with 11 cats and more
on the way.

4391.4 | BJ's....it depends.... | BOOVX1::MANDILE | | Tue Mar 05 1991 13:10 | 10 |
| The 9-lives was 6.48/case and the Fancyfeast was 4.99
a case. (24 cans per case). 9-lives pricing calculates
to .27/can. You can get better on the 9-lives when the
grocery stores sell at 4/$1.00, with a better variety selection.
However, they do sell the 20 lb bags of dry Alpo for
$9.98, (Friskies dry, too, but I don't remember the $)
This is a good deal.
