4389.0. "Bro is to quiet" by MTADMS::BUNIS () Thu Feb 14 1991 12:23

This is about Mazzie and Bro again. Mazzie came back from the Vet
and she is fine. She cannot have milk or anything with milk in it.

When Mazzie came back ,Bro just ignored her. He would not play with
her but the worst part is that he does not want to play at all.
All he does is eat and sleep. For a 7 week old kitten not to play
at all seems strange. He is constantly on my lap or shoulder and
sleeps. It has been 2 days since Mazzie came back.

My wife wants to take him to the Vet but I dont want to make a pest
out of myself going to the Vet every time something out of the ordinary
    occurs.

    Ant suggestions?????

4389.1You could call the vet and askSTAR::BARTHDream until your dream comes trueThu Feb 14 1991 12:278
Please don't worry about making a pest of yourself with the vet. If
you're concerned, take him in, or at least give them a call. Sometimes
I've called the vet, described what I was worried about and they've
reassured me that everything's ok. Sometimes they suggest that I
bring them in. That's what you pay them for! A good vet won't mind
the phone call or the visit!

Certainly call the vet. That's what they're for....

Anytime you see behavior that is grossly out of character you should
be concerned...a kitten that refuses to play and sleeps all the time
    is very out of character.

Call your vet and talk to him/her. as .2 says - That's what they're
for. Besides this will help you learn more about caring for cats.

4389.4Bro is at the VetMTADMS::BUNISFri Feb 15 1991 11:447
Just came back from the Vet. We had to leave Bro there overnight.
He had a fever of 105 and the Vet said it was a bacterial infection.
He will be on antibiotics and blood tests will be taken. Now Mazzie
is running all over the house looking for him.

Thank you all for your support.

I'm so happy you got Bro to the Vets...

Don't ever feel you are pestering the VET...
They love your money. Honestly I have seven
cats and I usually have to visit or call the
vets atleast once a week for something. I call
and explain the symptoms...and the vet either
suggest I bring him in or gives me advise on
the phone as to what to give him or what to
    look for.

    Of course...I'm a pankicky Mom....so my Vet
    always laughs at me.

We picked up Bro Saturday and he is better than new. He is so
full of life it is unbeleivable. Now for the first time, Mazzie
cannot keep up with him. He is the cutest ball of fur you
ever saw. I will never hesitate to call the Vet again.

    My thanks go to all,
    Marty
