| | Marlene,

I believe that in European shows, they still have "handlers". An
Exhibitor/owner does not handle their own cat. They are also not
    allowed to watch the judging.

Actually, Stripees does quite well on a leash...believe it or not.
I used to bring him into my office on the days he had to visit his
opthomologist, and he would stay on a leash anytime I'ld leave my
office. Of course, otherwise he was free running around my office,
but he never tried to leave my cube....only tried to steal my chair!

    ;-)
Somehow, I just can't picture the Bales on a leash though!

Oh yeah, I brought Stripees outside on his leash once, and he Freaked
out! He definitely wanted to be back in the house, happily watching
    nature from the windowsill! ;-)

We don't have handlers exactly in the UK. You get to the show, vet them
in and then leave them in the show pens. There are no distinguishing
marks allowed on the pens - not even do not touch signs. The judging is
done "behind closed doors". When you are allowed back in, then you can
put your signs up. The judges are assisted by stewards, so I suppose
    they are the handlers.

    Lisa.

| | I can just see all that now..!!! Marlene, so Bales did tell
you about MS Preschies latest list of "demands". er um
desires..she has asked for a tiara.. and jewels
so when we go out to the next show, she will be
"appropriately" attired to meet "her adoring public"
