4376.0. "Himalayan For Sale (Chocolate Point)" by AXIS::ALLAN () Tue Feb 12 1991 11:25

    I have an 8 week old chocolate point female Himalayan for sale.
    She is adorable with bright blue eyes and beautiful markings on
    her soft white fur. She has her pedigree and has been to the vet
    for her kitty shots and certificate of good health.

    I live in Ayer (near Ft Devens) and work in the Mill in Maynard.
    I have pictures in my office. She is ready to be weaned from
    mom as she is eating well and nursing only once or twice a day.

    I can be reached at 223-6762 or show pictures at MLO5-5/10A.

4376.1OVERDOING IT A BIT?ALLVAX::LUBYDTN 287-3204Tue Feb 12 1991 12:457
    This note is in here three times. Is this really necessary?
    Prospective buyers will probably find this a bit of a turnoff.

    Karen

    Where do you see it 3 times? I replied to one note and put one
    in myself.....

    It was put in note 415, the adoption note. It was added again as
    a reply to a note from someone looking for a himalayan, and again
    posted here as a new note.

    cin...who also got tired of looking at it!

4376.4Maybe you should count againMR4DEC::SHALLANTue Feb 12 1991 14:1513
    re: .1 Karen and .3 Cin.

    Before you go off criticizing you should get your facts straight.
    I put an ad in the adoption notes file. My name is Sharon, not
    Betty. My user name is Shallan not Allan. Betty Allan replied to
    one note and entered an ad to sell her kitten. I count 2 not 3.

    So your tired of looking at two entries that Betty put in for her
    kitten. Is that any reason to be rude? This is the FELINE notesfile
    isn't it?

    Wow, what a weird coincidence! I think most people who didn't *very
    carefully* notice the username and who signed each note might easily
    assume that it was the same person advertising the same kitten. Or
    if they did notice the different names, they might assume it was the
    same kitten being advertised by different family members. After all,
    these kittens are the same breed, the same color, the same age, and
    belong to people with the same last name! An honest mistake, no? I
    guess that just goes to show that one should read carefully and never
    assume anything...

    Also, I don't think anyone intended to be rude or criticize -- at least
    I didn't read it that way.

    Just my opinion,

    Linda
4376.6Let's go back to having funWR2FOR::CORDESBRO_JOset home/cat_max=infinityTue Feb 12 1991 14:5518
    Okay, there is no reason for everyone to start getting upset.

    Most people reading this file use the "next unseen" command to read,
    and therefore all the replies in the file are seen. Because of this,
    it is felt that it is not necessary to enter the same reply or bit of
    information more than once.

    Many years ago the adoption topic was created to help keep the file clean
    and to have a central repository for information about kittens and cats
    that were available for adoption, sale, etc.

    It is always a good idea to try to keep a notesfile as small as
    possible, thus using up less disc space. If the time ever comes that
    Feline needs a new home, it will be much easier to find someone that
    can take it on if the file isn't an unmanageable size. With so many
    notesfiles going away, I am sure that folks in this file are concerned.

    re .5

    Well I guess there is something to that old saying 'Look before you
    Leap'. Yes, it's coincidental. notes .1 and especially .3 struck
    me as VERY sarcastic and there's no need for that in this notesfile.
    If you don't want to read about a certain type of kitten, there's no
    reason to attack the person entering the note, simply go to the next
    unseen.
