4334.0. "Winter hybernation?" by WORDY::C_MILLER () Fri Jan 25 1991 16:40

I've noticed with the onsaught of colder weather and shorter days that
my 9 month old (who was fixed) SLEEPS a lot more. Is this normal?
Sleeps more in the sense that from 6 PM - 10 PM she sleeps on/off
whereas when I got her last summer she was running around ALL the time.

I think this is just growing up, rather than the weather changing.
None of us run around like we used to :-)

Well, we can, but it just takes us longer to recover!

Happy Friday and a good weekend to all!

I believe my cats do sleep more in the winter when it is cold
then in the summer. I think it's partially because they eat more,
they like to snuggle when it's cold, and their bored because
they don't like to go outside because it is too cold.

But....boy when they wake up...it's like the Indianapolis 500. They
just run around like crazy trying to use up some of the stored energy.

I think humans probably sleep more in the winter too!! I know I do.
There's nothing like snuggling in my warm water bed with all the
kitties laying around you to keep you warm.

I find that my cat sleeps more too....He used to only sleep with me for
part of the nite. These past couple of weekends he has been sleeping
in with me - which is very unusual. I also find that he sleeps closer
to me in bed. He use to sleep on my legs - now he either sleeps on my
stomach or between my husband and I.
