4330.0. "It's the waiting.....cross your fingers..." by BOOVX1::MANDILE () Fri Jan 25 1991 09:31

But the phonecall finally came....Casey is doing fine, but
he has bronchitis AND pneumonia!!! Last night, Casey was
sitting in daddys lap while I made dinner. My husband called
me over to look at Casey, as he was breathing "funny". One
look, and I knew what was wrong. On went all the teakettles
and pans full of hot water, and into the bathroom to fill it
up with steam. Casey had developed a bad cough and severe
wheezing, and was diagnosed as asthmatic. (like mother, like
son! :-) I had some nebulizer from the vet to add to the water.
But, by 9:30, I was on the phone to the vet, and at 10:00 in the
vets office. We had to leave him overnight, and as you can guess,
I have been nervous as h*ll waiting for the phonecall.......
He's in until tomorrow, as the vet wants to monitor him another
day and get more amoxcillin (sp?) and stuff in him.
I missed him licking my eyebrows this morning....his way of saying
"Good morning, mom! get up & feed us!"
    Tomorrow is so far away......

    Lynne,

I know Casey will be just fine. He is in the best place right now.
Although scaring sounding, it is pretty easy to keep in control
when it's caught in time. You were a very smart mommy to do what
you did and your husband was very alert to notice irregular breathing.
Good job you two. I'll keep all my fingers and toes crosses and
Flirtaysha will keep her paws crossed.
