| This has already been extensively discussed elsewhere (such as
in DIGITAL.NOTE where you also posted a message to this
effect.) A conference has been set up to discuss the value of
NOTES to DEC, and the bottom line is that there a minimal
financial impact to the corporation which is far outweighed by
the benefits of NOTES. It's currently considered extremely
unlikely that employee interest conferences will be deleted.

| I'm glad to hear that. Sometimes its only FELINE that keeps me
from looking elsewhere for work.

my list of pros for DEC....

4264.5 | That mail was retracted; implementing caused more work than it saved | EMASS::SKALTSIS | Deb | Thu Dec 20 1990 15:39 | 4 |
| That note has been flying around for a few weeks now. It's too bad that
the "retraction" doesn't seem to get forwarded with as much zeal.

| Some good sources of information which will help reassure folks
that it's not as dark as it seems.

I've had no less then 5 people mail me copies and have seen it in
at least 2 or three notes conferences. In still an other conference
is a mail exchange between a local IM&T manager and Dan Infante where
the manager makes a good case that Dan could not really mean what
it appears the memo says (my words) and Dan Infante agrees that there
are good business reasons to backup non-technical conferences.
Check out Topic 1276 in the Colorado conference (especially reply .11).
Colorado COMET::COLORADO 1196
There has also been quite a bit of discussion of the idea of shutting
Notes conferences in the Employee Involvement conference as well.
DELTA Program CAPNET::DELTA_IDEAS 2842
Check out topic 369 there. The Dan Infante memo is also discussed
there at some length.
Lastly there is a notes conference dedicated to discussion of employee
interest notes conferences and the kind of issues the Dan Infante memo
raises. It's at:

4264.7 | Feline - now and forever | WR1FOR::RUSSELLPE_ST | | Fri Jan 18 1991 19:30 | 10 |
| FELINE is the one thing I'd miss if I left DEC, (which I almost had to
do since I was offered "the package" in December. I got another position
the day I had to make the big decision. phew!) I don't reply that often
to the notes but I so enjoy reading about all your wonderful furry kids
and I learn a lot about how to care for a sick cat. I also cry
when I read about the loss of a precious furbaby.
This is a very valuable file and I certainly hope it's here to stay.
