4222.0. "Cat's age x (times) person's age." by WFOV12::HILLS () Tue Dec 04 1990 15:54

Could anyone tell me the age a cat is X (times) a real person's age?
    I know that a dog is one year x 7 years a person's age. But I don't
know what a cats age is times a person's age.
If a dog is one years old then he would be seven years old in a
person's age. I don't know if I made my question clear or not.
       Please help.
       Sincerely,
       A confused feliner,
Denise plus Spooky, Smokey, Kuji, Tiddly Winks or T.W. & Toby (the
       dog).

Acutally, the dog year = 7 human years thing isn't exactly correct.

When a dog is one year old, it is about equal to a teenager. From
there the ages change at different rates each year. The same is true
    for cats.

A cat at six months is about the same as a young teenager (capable of
reprodcution but you wouldn't want them out there having sex :^D). At a
year old they are about equal to a 24 year old human. At 2 they are
about equivalent with the late 20's. At 3 they are around 30. At
four they are around 40. and so on. When they are 15, I would say they
    are around 90!

Our vet said all the times business is a lot of hokum.!!

Since animals have certain life spans vs humans you don't multiply
    anything.

You know when to get their shots, spay/neuter, etc by their size
and actions. As an animal ages, keeping an eye on it and making
sure the animal's comfortable with it's food and surroundings and
activities and hope it goes without pain or suffering. All the time
between these two stages it the time to take lots of pictures mentally
    and real ones.

I always like his down to earth advice. Can you tell he's been
    practicing for years?
