4200.0. "The silent wonder" by MCIS1::MICHAELSON () Tue Nov 27 1990 12:37

I am beginning to wonder what is wrong with my Siamese, she is so
quiet. On the rare occasion that she talks she is very soft and
sometimes sounds hoarse from lack of use of her vocal cords. The only
time that I hear her at all is when she talks to the birds outside the
window in the morning otherwise I have to keep checking to see where
she is. She greets me when I get home, just by appearing and following
me around, but never makes a sound.

Just had her annual checkup and the Vet says she is fine, she's just
    not talkative.

You're right, she's just NOT very talkative. Not all siamese are. My
sister has a siamese that barely meows at all. Just usually a "hurry
up" for dinner or "open the door so I can go outside" (she's an indoor
only cat but my sister brings her out every once in a while with her).

She's just not very vocal. Nothing's wrong at all.

My siamese (part tabby) isn't vocal either. She is 9 months now
and the only time she talks is to the birds. We have a tray type bird
feeder right in front of one of our windows. She sits there a lot and
talks with the birds. But that is the only time she talks. Never to
greet us or anything else. She does have the loudest motor I've ever
heard when she does her morning purrrrring.

I agree that she's quite normal. As I said in a previous reply,
my two female Siamese are fairly quiet, except when treats are
being served, that is. C.C. has a funny, squeaky little meow,
while Jenny's is kinda like what Marilyn Monroe would sound like
if she came back as a cat :^} It's almost a whisper.

Our Siamese, Jinxie, was quiet for 16 years and then decided to give a
real siamese meow every now and then just to let us know he's still
    very much with us.
