| Cindy, I think this would be adorable!! One concern I would have
though, is there enough space to keep the non-mixable pets apart? It
wouldn't do to have someone biting and scratching poor Santa! (or the
elves for that matter). Tell us more!

| RE: -.1
Karen,
I am familiar with the arrangements only at McGrath, but I am assuming
the setup would be similar elsewhere.
As an elf at McGrath, I am in charge of animal control. I greet the
animals and their owners as they arrive at the door to the reception
area/waiting room. Cats usually arrive in some sort of enclosure, and
dogs are leashed, so there haven't been any problems in keeping the
animals separated. The pictures are taken in a separate room, where
Santa, the photographer, and two elves are to keep everything organized.
I am not sure if that addresses your concern. Do let me know if you
have any more questions.

| Is anyone planning to be at the Slade Veterinary Hospital in Framingham
on Saturday to have their cat photographed with Santa? I'm bringing
Murdock. I have tried to convince some friends and my mom to take
their pets, but they all think I've gone mad!
Well, it's something different to do on a Saturday anyway!! It would
be fun to meet some Feline noters while there.

| I wish someone out here would do pet pictures with Santa. Premium
Pet Mart had advertised it for $5 but when we got there with Annie,
they had no Santa, but a professional photographer doing professional
shots. Well, we had come all that way, so we went ahead and did it
(for $20!), but I would have given her a bath if I had known it was
going to be like that. Would still like to get a shot of her with
Santa. And, it would be nice to have a picture of the kittens with
Santa too.

4190.5 | Pics a success! Still openings at Slade. | BOOKIE::FISCHER | | Thu Dec 06 1990 10:54 | 29 |
| The NEADS Santa pictures fund raiser is proving to be very successful
and has been great fun for all involved, including yours truly, who
served as animal-control elf at McGrath Tuesday evening. On Saturday
Santa posed with some 140 dogs and cats at the West Boylston site.
At McGrath, Santa welcomed some 60 dogs, cats, and rabbits onto his
lap, at his side, and on his shoulder. Yes, rabbits, two of them --
angoras -- who were accompanied by two girls and a golden retriever.
The picture of them was priceless. Getting Santa to hold four cats
was a real challenge, but perching one of them on Santa's shoulder
worked out just fine. Our director and Dr. Migday have become old
pros at getting the animals to look right into the camera. Some of
the animals might have arrived a bit bewildered (and nervous about
being at the vet's), but they all left happily with their Pedigree
or Sheba treats, compliments of Kal Kan.
According to Dr. Migday, there are still some openings at Slade in
Framingham for Saturday. If you are interested, please call ahead
for an appointment at 875-7086. The donation at Slade is $10. (I
apologize for the misinformation in the base note.) Sorry I won't
be there to help out, Roberta. I'd love to see Murdock again. I
am not sure if there are any openings at Central Animal Hospital
for this evening, but call ahead if you are interested. Gee, Jo,
I wish there was a way to get you out here, but that is a bit far
to travel for Santa pictures! ;-)
Thank you all for your support.
