4184.0. "Sneezing Kitty" by SAGE::COMIRE () Fri Nov 16 1990 11:09

I am concerned about my kitty Max. He seems to do a LOT of sneezing.
More than I've ever seen in any cat before. He does not show the
typical signs of a cold (runny nose, watery eyes, lethargic etc.)
and he acts normal. The only other thing that seems different is
that he is not putting on as much weight as Sheba (they are brother
and sister, 10 weeks old) and Sheba's appetite is MUCH bigger
    (but Max DOES eat).

Any ideas? I was worried about this upper respiratory thing that was
mentioned in this file. I have had Max for about 3 weeks and it seems
he's been sneezing ever since I got him so it definitely isn't a "new"
    thing.

Any information would be appreciated. I hope my baby isn't sick!

    Thanks,
    Beth

I would check him out with the Vet, because my kitten had an
upper respiratory infection, and showed no other signs, except
for sneezing. But I was glad that I got her to the Vet, before
she really became ill. Just a precaution.

Yup, to the vet!! That's how my guys started, just sneezing like the dickens.
No runny noses or eyes, but the sneezing was good and juicy (sorry anyone
who's eating lunch...) and somehow, they all managed to sneeze right in my
face to get the point across.

A week on some Clavamox will suit him fine!

To the vet. By the way, it might be that Max is just a carrier
and will go on sneezing forever but not getting sick. My Holly
is like that. She coexists very well with my two other cats
in terms of this -- the two others get respir. vaccinations
twice a year instead of once a year and they have all lived
together without getting sick for several years.

Or maybe Max has an allergy....

    Anyway, to the vet....

I took everyone's advice and brought Max to the Vet on Friday
    afternoon.

The doc said it wasn't anything serious that he could tell, but did
give me some antibiotics to put in his food for awhile. I really think
I can see a difference in Max's personality already. He seems more
playful and has a bigger appetite. So, I think I did the right thing.

    Thank you everyone!
