4180.0. "another Mandy in charge" by TYGON::WILDE (illegal possession of a GNU) Wed Nov 14 1990 20:00

Is it just me, or is a white kitten the best way in the world to find every
dirty spot in every corner of the house? Mandy has managed to get herself
marked up with several different colors OTHER than her cute orange nose and
ears - I'm afraid I shall have to bathe the little monster before her unveiling
at Thanksgiving.

She is, of course, the smartest, cutest, most demanding little critter I've
ever seen....and Hannah Cat is delighted with her. Missy Hannah has finally
figured out that the noisy little thing is a kitten...as in CAT. Hannah
wants to play with her SO BAD, but she cannot figure out how to get down to
Mandy's level - she tried so hard last night that she rolled herself completely
over. Mandy then proceeded to dance up to her, bat the end of her nose, and
dance away - clearly an invitation to a game of tag. Hannah looked so cute,
confused but cute. I think the two flame points shall be great friends once
Mandy gets a bit larger. I'm depending on Mandy to help Missy Hannah lose
some of the extra girth she is packing - I cannot remove the food without
absolutely starving Nicholas as he only eats when HE decides it is "safe"...
I never know exactly what his criteria is - so the kibble must always be
available. C'mon, Mandy, kitty aerobics for all!

	ZIIIIP! ZIIIP!

"Was that Supercat?" asked Samson, the dignified, older gentleman cat.
"Why, no, that's the Javanese Flash!" said Hannah the cat helpfully, "She
is a famous defender of catnip mouses, attacker of dust bunnies, and
the fastest kitten alive!"

"HHRMPH!" said Samson as he stately walked from the room, plumed tail held
proudly aloft.

ZIIIIP! ZIIIIP! Suddenly, the Javanese flash was upon Samson, and
before he could react, she had jumped up and soundly batted his proud tail
and disappeared in a cloud of blustery protest from the offended party.

"Yes, she IS the fastest kitten alive!" said Hannah as she chased off in
hot pursuit of the Javanese Flash...

ZIIIP! ZIP! ZIIIIP! ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz.....the Javanese Flash
whips into a nearby lap as the super dust wears off....suddenly, she is
transformed into a little 11 week old kitten, curled up for a nap. But,
never fear! The Javanese Flash will return...any minute now....

Kitties for life....I don't know about that. I have three
little ones running around my house frantic and there
are days I say "I can't wait for you to grow up and mope!"

They are little terror tots!!! But boy my house would
be calm without them....but.. oh.... how boring.

Kittens are more like Nicad batteries, don't you think? They go go go
110% and then run out of energy and sleep for the next hour or so.

4180.7nap attacksTYGON::WILDEillegal possession of a GNUFri Nov 16 1990 13:1418
Well, the Javanese Flash seems to suffer from nap ATTACKS where she will be
dancing madly about the house, irritating the older, stuffy cats to pieces
and then she suddenly gets tired and naps. When I say suddenly, I mean it
happens RIGHT NOW....and after approx. 30 minutes of napping, she is up and
at it again. She is suffering from kittenitis, and I love it, but....I admit
I don't love it that much when a play ATTACK comes over her at 3:30 AM in which
she begins to chase my feet if I move in bed, or sit on my head and say, "I
WANT TO PLAY NOW!!!", or...

Sigh. I know they grow up too fast...

Just an aside: It dawned on me that Mandy has a definite New Jersey accent...
yeah, I know, I DO get weird from lack of sleep...no, seriously, she sounds
like she picked up her owners tonality when she cries. It's absolutely a gas.
The little girl has a wide range of vocalizations, even at her age, and I'm
not surprised that she has absorbed the sounds she heard as an infant...I
know she is already inventing new sounds now that she is exposed to new noises
around our place.

I think my little Poco has a lisp.....when she cries it comes out

4180.10a kitten becomes a cat...sortaTYGON::WILDEwhy am I not yet a dragon?Wed Feb 20 1991 17:4325
SHAZAM!! the little fluffy, smudgy, gawky kitten has transformed into a
beautiful, miniature cat -

her oriental blue eyes are brillant in a sea of tawny orange face marking...
light right now, but growing darker. Her shell pink nose offers bright
contrast to the tawny orange face point. Delicate shading on her feet,
and a perfectly georgeous fluffy tail - long, and lightly "ring-tailed"
in marking - tawny orange stripes against white. She has a lovely face,
lean and longer in the nose, but not as wedgy as the siamese these days...
She has a glorious "ruff" of hair that fluffs out on her chest when she
is sitting in the traditional cat pose, erect with tail wrapped around her
feet.

At 6 months of age, she weighs just 5.25 pounds and will, according to the
vet remain delicate, topping out at somewhere between 6 - 8 pounds.

She is still, however, the Javanese Flash - and poor Mister Mouse is taking
the worst of it....she repeatedly flings him in the air by his tail, chases
him down, and pounces on him, rolling around with him firmly gripped in her
mouth...killing Mister Mouse is her favorite game. She sometimes will take
pity on me, sitting reading my paper all alone, and will bring me Mister
Mouse to throw around for her. A decent gesture on her part for a most
unfortunate un-cat for whom she has taken pity. Mister Mouse has "gone
to the vet's" 4 times so far - I replace the toy when she has frayed him
beyond his safe use - and she still loves that mouse.
